i remember.good thread and polite.
ps how did it go.

polite and bass players are rarely mentioned in the same sentence.....

We're leaving towards the end of July to Spain for a week or so, and then a couple things every month till December.
Had to expedite my passport, and really hoping they get the work permits in order.
Still waiting for the freakin' itinerary so I can set things up with my bank.

Asked for a full GB rig, mostly because I'm used to working with 'em.

Wife of Nojj is not happy.
She wants to go, but can't fit in my gig bag.

im looking to buy a stack of 4 810s with tube heads. Mesa M6 carbine heads on top?, i noticed the Fender Superbassman 300w (tube power amp) and am interested, SVT, or Ashdowm ABM 900?

PLEASE add your comments about the difference between any of these amps so i can get your opinion on the best sounding rig for the money for a arena touring band LOUD and a few overdrive, boost, and fuzz pedals. What do you think is the ultimate rig for this setup?:bassist:

Ampeg SVT or the Fender Superbassman with a couple 810's would be my first choice.

I want the fender sound, but ive had them break down on the road before, thats why im looking at the Mesa M6.
The M6 will not sound like a full tube amp.

Fun thoughts! I'd go with the Meatsmoke by Verellen. It will crush the competition, especially if loud is what you're looking for. Run into 810 fridges, or if you really want some low end, those 1515/66's CL400Peavey mentioned. Each one of those is worth two 810 fridges, although the tone may be more full-range and hi-fi than you want.

Real or not, discussing arena-sized rock rigs is just plain fun. :)

The biggest rig I've used for touring was two Ampeg SVT-2 Pros and matching 8x10s. The thing about Ampeg is you can find em anywhere, and if you go overseas and rent backline you can still get "your sound." I had one run of dates where two heads blew up. Imagine if your boutique or rare vintage head died on you and you couldn't rent a similar rig?

These days I rarely even pack a rig to a show. DI, baby. Hell, I'm thinking about a Kala U-Bass so that my touring rig can fit into a backpack.

DOGGONE IT IMMIGRANT! LOL!! You beat me to the punch! I was going to post that pic! :smug:

Having said that, I still have two suggestions.

The first is a Marshal design that will bring sighs and oohs and ahhhs, the second is a Marshall Fridge, so when your band gets thirsty or hungry, you can also get a bite to eat or some fresh beer. I believe these design concepts could be modified to be any style, Mesa, Ampeg, Glockenklang, and Peavey!

Wall of amps? (4) Gallien Krueger 412 Neo cabinets, (4) Gallien Krueger 2001RB Amplifier Heads.

AMEN BRUDDAH!:bassist:

+1 on the OP is trolling us. He claims that he knows a lot about amps...but then goes on to say he wants a tube amp and cites the Mesa Carbine series? Then he doesn't know about the universal respect commanded by the Peavey 400. And he needs 4 8x10s for feedback? :rollno:

I may be more sympthetic to the OP if it weren't for the snotty attitude since the second post.

no, i didnt get scared away, but im surprised. I thought everyone would be saying alembic pre-amp and big power amps for the 4 810s. huh.

Much like your Peavey comment, it's 2013. Most bassists don't use that kind of stuff anymore. At least the majority of bassists here don't...

It's simply not needed, unless you have no FOH support at all. In an arena that would be highly unlikely, unless you time travel back to the 60's and early 70's.

With that said, I'd love to rock a pair of 810's with a pair of SVT's driving them.
