Hopefully someone who uses more distorted tones will weigh in on whether they feel the need for a compressor. I'm just using Cold Fusion mode and dialing in Channel B for a little breakup when I dig in.

I have the compressor before the Le Bass and my MXR EQ pedal in the loop. The EQ pedal is my boost pedal when I solo - I'm just looking for slightly more volume and a little mid hump to cut through, not to drive the tube any harder, so it's in the loop so that it's after the preamp. If I bring effects I'll typically keep them on a separate board and insert them into the loop on my Radial Mix Blender, so that stuff all goes before the Le Bass.

My chain is:

Gecko 5 > Boss FS500 Volume> Boss TU-3> Late 90's ART Levelar Tube Comp> Le Bass

This seems nice. I find the Cab sim sounds great playing on my own, but I get lost in the mix in live
setting. I like hot fusion for some heavier tunes and just the "A" side for most songs.

Thanks. Time difference makes it tough to get that international call in ;) Im not actually sure I have international calling as part of my plan? I will have to look into that.
I may try to start another thread here in case someone knows the guy but isnt frequenting this thread. But thank you for doing some digging; appreciate it!

I bough this for $160.00 used from Sam Ash online. I read countless reviews on this pedal and I have to say, for me, its a total waste of money, for me, glad I didn't buy it new. I'm not into 'distortion' on a bass, so that negates the entire channel 2 and it's "fusion" coupling to channel 1. I'm into clean tone, so channel 1 is all I got to work with. Wow, is that all they can do for channel 1, just a measly bass and treble control? What's with the 'gain' and 'volume' knobs on channel 1? Just give me one, a volume, but PLEASE give me all the tone shaping controls that are on channel 2 MINUS ANYTHING that has to do with any sort of distortion or overdrive. Where is the mid sweep for channel 1? Where is the actual plain old 'mid' knob for channel 1? So all I got on channel 1 is 12AX7 tube circuitry and a simple bass and treble control? Wow, I have those same 2 basic knobs on my Fender Rumble. I can get the same tube warmth using my $40 ART Tube MP Preamp. I will just put it up on E-Bay for like $125.00 maybe.

There's plenty of clean tones available on Le Bass by mixing Channel A and B using cold fusion and keeping the gain below halfway on Channel B.
Also Channel B with cab sim through the XLR is a terrific clean sound if the gain is set correctly ( it took me ages to discover this).

This, my main clean sound is cold fusion with gain B set low. There's a touch of grit for some top end bite, but nothing close to what can reasonably called distortion.

@VolverseLoco sorry you didn’t get on with the pedal, it’s not for everyone, but by what you are saying I don’t really you really got to grips with what the pedal can deliver.
Yes we get protective of gear we like, but even on the A channel with just bass and treble their interlinking just doesn’t leave a massive hole in the mids, it needs intuitive dialling and experiment on basses of choice.
B channel is more than just dirt, turn your gain down, you get a clean tone.
As mentioned you can cascade A into B in cold fusion without distortion.
This way I managed to get one set up for a P and then at the click of a button another perfectly EQ for a J bass.

It’s hardly a POS but it may not be right for you even if extensively tinkered with, but it definitely does more than you say/presume it does so far

Thank you for the hints. I still have the pedal so I will give it another un-biased go and do the adjustments you speak of with the cold fusion and little to no gain on channel 2 and see what I can come up with. As far as the speaker sim thing, are you saying use the XLR out straight into my amp for some different tones? I read that only the XLR out has that function, but I don't use it into a computer, so I want to try XLR into my Rumble.

You need an XLR to 1/4" TS mic lead.

I agree it’s another option either normal output or XLR to Jack
Here is a tone A channel alone I liked - mainly with a jazz bass.
And the settings I used for Cold fusion, mainly with a P bass.
May help as a start point, you may think it sounds chaff!!!

Definitely stick with it, I too battled with it for a while but once I properly understood the controls and the way the fusion modes worked I was sorted. I am using it clean in cold fusion mode and it's my always on pedal. It definitely is not just a one trick pony, it offers wide tonal flavours from total precision clean to all out, in your face grit, and like I said, I am using it totally clean. I have other pedals for my gritty tones.

I went back to the drawing board with Cuzzie's picture in hand and made all my knobs the same positions as his picture. I also ran XLR into the little Rumble 40. I did try speaker sim but too scooped, so I just left XLR into amp normal. Turned it on and activated fusion (I wish they had a single pushbutton to go into fusion), but anyway, wow! What a tone. I just backed my channel 2 gain down a little more than in the picture and I now have the perfect tone. Fender jazz bass, passives, but, I put my little TC Electronics Spectra Comp compressor pedal in front of the Le Bass, and that sealed the deal. All Rumbles tone knobs all at 12 as well as Rumbles gain and volume at 12 (just perfect for he house), both Jazz bass volumes at 80% and tone at 100%. Everyone is right here, this thing takes some doing to get right, but that pic was a big boost. I know this thing has all the firepower for grit, but that's for someone who likes grit. I am very happy I got a nice clean tone out of it Thanks!
