Two Notes Le Bass Players Club

Hi Rojd, I’ve had my Le Bass pedal for a couple of years and it’s still sounding great. Mine gets used about five hours per week with the band as an “always on” part of my board and maybe another hour or two at home.

It’s funny, I’m always experimenting with different tubes in my Vox guitar amp, but I’ve hardly even looked at the one that came in the Le Bass...I don’t even know what brand it is. I guess I’ll have to try a few different ones in there to see how it affects the tone. I’m assuming it’s relatively easy to change and tubes aren’t all that expensive so I wouldn’t let any of that stuff deter you from getting a truly awesome pedal.

According to Two Notes' website info, the tube is a Ruby 12AX7AC5 HG. From what I've seen, they can be had for $15+-. It says that any 12ax7 can be used. Two notes has an faq on changing the tube, doesn't look to bad, if one ever needs to. For someone like me, not likely.

Good to know Rojd, I’ve got a good selection of 12ax7 tubes laying around. Be careful if you start down the tube road, it can easily become kind of hobby all it’s own. I’ve got a few friends who spend more time messing with tubes than they do actually playing music.

Yeah, that's for sure. I like the sound of the Le Bass well enough that I don't see myself messing with different tubes. I don't like poking around unless it's really necessary.

I be had mine in a year for recording and it's still okay if you are to hammer it just buy a spare tube so you have one, if your other one dies once you keep playing with it you will find the tone you like( or have been looking for) happy playing

Love the headphone jack but wish you could have also an AUX jack?
Love the pedal but wish you could have an input pad for the DI or just in general?

It runs at 18v (which is awesome cause it saves one of my 9v outs from my power supply for another pedal) It also has an aux jack and if that not enough it also has a pad for your signal in case is coming a little to hard. Which is great cause the le bass does not have an input pad for the DI.
Not convinced? Well what if I tell you that the thing is small and won’t take much real state. Damn this thing pairs pretty well with the le bass if you ask me.

I have an Ampeg 350would if i run from the line out from it ,i then into le bass and then into my interface? Thus using the le bass as a DI
instead if going direct into the interface, I I like the settings I have dialled in from the new amp but just wanted to use the le bass as a DI is the correct way to hook it up?

I mean yeah that’s one way of doing it, but the Le bass is a tube DI so it colors the sound you could also just get a regular DI. You can also put the amp in the fX loop, of the preamp. Just find what works the best for you, even going straight from the amp to the interface.

Hi Thanks I don't want to go straight into the interface as I loose some of the tone, and I don't want to buy another DI, i realize now from you that the tube could colour the sound and the suggestion of hooking it up through the two notes send/return is worth a try so how would you suggest the best way to hook it up? 1.- Your bass to the input of Le bass
2.- from send of the le bass to input of the amp
3.- from out of the the amp to return of the le bass
4.- from le bass to the interface

It just is a different way to wire it up, you may not like the amp going through the preamp then to recording interface. But you might like your bass going to the preamp through the amp then interface. Putting the amp in the FX loop puts the amp ahead of the le bass preamp before it’s DI or output.

Hi I understand now thank you I will give that a try it's the way I record, I get my tone the way it has to be before I record it, I don't use a dry sample approach, then adjust or process it after, I approach it, what goes in, is what I want it to come out.

I'm looking to buy a le Bass in the next week.

Though having read through this thread and others there seems to have been a few issues with reliability. Could anyone weigh in on that? Are the current units solid and reliable?

Based on my experience with the LeBass, it has been very reliable. The only issue I had was power supply related and not with the actual pedal itself.
