Two Notes Le Bass Players Club

My pedal board is mainly Source Audio : I have a Soleman and a neurohub to command a C4 Synth and an Aftershock. Easy to setup and no need to be a Midi god to program this system as it's mainly supported by the Source Audio windows software.
I also have a Boss tuner TU2, a Spectracomp (always on) and an HPF filter (always on).
I think I could use the Aftershock for unity gain between the A/B/Fusion channels : possible ?
But I am a simple user and Midi is not my cup of tea... How could I integrate the Le bass in my pedal board ?
Midi cable from the Soleman to the Le Bass ?
Or a cable from the neurohub to the Lebass ? from one of the 5 "multifunction outputs" ?

I’ve got a few questions for the club about that pedal!

Here I go:

1. Does it react like a tube amp when you use a boost pedal before the Le Bass?

2. How does it compare to, for example, a SansAmp RBI, when it comes to direct recording trying to get a similar sound as a good old tube amp?

3. Is the clean channel essentially giving a scooped sound? I’ve heard demos and it makes me wonder.

1) Yes. Gain stages before the Le Bass will hit the tube harder. I use a lot of pedals so I keep the gain on both channels pretty low.

2) Never used the SansAmp but the Le Bass is a great tool for warming up your tone before recording. If you use the XLR out then you can switch on the cab sim to make it sound like it's going through a fridge.

3) It's not scooped to my ears. Then again I only use the pedal in cold fusion mode so I rarely hear the A channel in isolation.

Just got mine in the mail from Sweetwater and have only been able to spend about 5 minutes with it so far. Holy crap this Peda sounds amazing! Only made minor adjustments from everything set at 12:00 and it just sounds so good. I can’t wait to get this on my board and fine tune it. It will be replacing my Darkglass Alpha Omega Photon.

Hello, I am thinking to get LeBass for my gigs. I had Aguilar Tone Hammer for almost a decade, and over that period, I had Sadowsky, TriLogic, EBS, SansAmp etc, but TH been a mainstay untill now as I am looking for a change and some tube, too.
The question would be, as I want to use it mostly clean (channel A) what is the trick with hot n cold button, does it apply to channel A or is it just AB thing?
I guess I will discover everything myself, but few tips from experienced users wouldn't hurt.

The Fusion button only works when you are using both channel A and B together. The Hot and Cold button changes whether you have channel A and B parallel or using A to boost B.

I did for a little bit, until the pedal bug bit and my board became much larger. If you do use the Le Bass as your only pedal, try the cab sim on the DI. It's really good.

Thanks for that! I do currently have an EQ pedal that I'm planning to put in front of it and see how I like it. I was just getting a little nervous reading through this thread because it's a pretty expensive (for me) pedal and I was getting the impression that in order for it to sound good I'd need a S.A. eq with MIDI and other things.

For my purposes, which are strictly amateur, I'm sure it'll be fine! I'm pumped!!

It's a great sounding pedal on its own. I'd play with it without any other EQing for a while, gig with it even, just to get a feel for how it sounds. Then as you get more comfortable start adding whatever you want to your chain.

I personally don't use the MIDI features, but I've been tempted. I played around for a while switching between the A and B channels, but now I keep it in cold fusion mode 100% of the time and love the sound.

I'm something of a preamp freak and have owned the Le Bass for about a year.It is a real good choice imo.I bought a S.A. programmable EQ after reading comments but I've never bothered using it.Other than giving one a few presets I don't feel it's needed to obtain good tones.I can make it sound great with only the onboard controls.YMMV.

I got too many options to adjust EQ on my chain so I settled on this. On my bass I have EMG with BQC preamp and I use that to get the base tone from the bass. From there I use the mix knob for P and J pickup to change the character of the sound. The Le Bass is set and not changed unless I roll back some of the highs. The final thing I use is the CAB M with preset cabs for the ultimate sound I want. I have found I don't need to change the EQ on the Cab M. The different speaker and mic placement does enough.
