Yeah, after a bit more tweaking I managed to get the clean channel reasonably transparent by setting bass to 8 o'clock and treble to 9 o'clock. Cold fusion with a tiny bit of clean added is definitely the way to go. My Jazz has never sounded so good, and I was thinking of selling this bass, not any more!

Two Notes Le Bass Preamp, When Does it Ship???

Received mine yesterday and am very impressed!
Thick, harmonically-rich tube tone abound, and combined with the Torpedo CAB, is a killer combination. Without question, the best bass tone I have experienced outside of a real all-tube amp. Cold fusion mode for the win.
Construction quality is top-notch, surpassing that of the Torpedo CAB, with heavier-duty jacks and switches. Aesthetics are also significantly better.
The biggest challenge I face now is how do I fit both of the above large form factors on a modest pedal board along with one or two other necessities.

At NAMM 2016, in some of the videos, Two Notes displayed the Le Bass and Torpedo CAB mounted on small, square-ish, wedge-angled pedal boards (which presumably had matching lids.) These looked to be wooden with tolex covering.

Just got mine about an hour ago. I've barely scratched the surface on it, but I'm already in love. So glad I got this thing.
As mentioned previously, the built-in cabinet sim in the Le Bass is really very nice!
I compared it A/B-style against "Fridge" sims I use in the Torpedo CAB and believe I would be quite satisfied with only the Le Bass cab sim if I did not already own the Torpedo CAB. It is surprisingly punchy, warm and alive-sounding, not at all like a simple low-pass filter or other analog shortcut.
Even so, the deal-breaker in my case however is that the Le Bass cab sim is only employable on the XLR and headphone outs. I really would have loved to have the cab sim also selectable on the 1/4" output. After experiencing how good the built-in Le Bass cab sim is, the lack of this feature is quite disappointing now.

The switch and jack quality on the Le Bass unit is very high and much improved over Torpedo CAB.
Sturdy, metal-collared 1/4" jacks all around, with very positive plug insertion snap, contact and support.
The top-mounted foot switches feel great, utilize the expected contact mechanism, and seem built to last. Side and top toggle switches feel solid and dependable.
The spoiler unfortunately is the side 1/8" headphone jack which IMHO does not accept nor grip the plug in a way that I like or would trust. In all fairness, 1/8" jacks on most consumer electronics fall short in this way, but it is even more obvious on Le Bass where all else is of such high quality. I believe the addition of a headphone out on Le Preamp pedals was a competitive afterthought and perhaps that was a contributor here. I wish Two Notes had instead used that same circuit board real estate for a toggle switch for cabinet sim on the 1/4" out

Shame about no speaker sim toggle on the main output but I'm glad it's permanently off rather than permanently on since I'm running it to a sealed tweeterless Ampeg cab anyway. But you're right, it should be (separately) switchable for those folk using clean amps and full range speakers. There are always ways to employ the headphone or DI out with cable adapters or splitters if you really need to though.

For me, the cab sim being left off the 1/4" out is fine. If I'm running it to a power/amp head/cab I'd probably be doing it for on-stage monitoring if anything, so not picky about cab tone. That'd go to FOH through the DI out. I'd only need it in that case or for practice/recording situations, which the available setup gives me fine.
I'm still curious about the Torpedo CAB though, so my opinion might change given enough time to run through my options. Good info regardless for anyone evaluating it.
Gonna have to agree on the 1/8" jack. Mine has a lot of play. I was getting some scratchiness tonight at first when I plugged in until it settled. I still like the headphone out though. That was what originally put me over the top after wanting a Darkglass B7k. No headphone out meant I had to run it always into my amp and use that headphone output, which is often unnecessary for me.
I've been looking for something for fly dates that will dependably deliver warmth + has the ability to growl if the need arises. Backline can be iffy. I'm not familiar with the Torpedo... I'd like to keep it simple... any insights? Will this thing by itself be sufficient?
How many are using the cab sim for FOH? It sounds so dark in my earphones and I'm wondering if it sounds this dark FOH?
I know it's a different beast altogether, but during the wait for this thing I've come across Noble Preamps. Anyone ever A/B them with Le Bass?
