I've seen him in lots of movies, but of late they all seem to involve him inventing robots.

Edit: After reading through this thread, I don't think most of you know what type casting is. Always playing every character the same way is not type casting. That's called being a bad actor. Also, viewers not being able to separate you from your most famous role is also not type casting.
Type casting is when you're always cast in the same kind of role. So, if there's an actress that always plays a battered woman, she'd be typecast. If there is a guy that's always cast to play a jerk, that's type casting. If there is a person that is always cast to play a cop, that's type casting.

Christopher Reeve had a hard time getting away from Superman. He did quite a few other films, but when he popped up on screen people would always say "look, its Superman!"

Bruce Dern was the bad guy in many movies - one of the nastiest roles was Longhair in the John Wayne movie "The Cowboys". Definitely a type.
Gary Oldman has done a wide range of roles, but he is consistently called upon to do psycho-killer roles. (He also did very different roles in Coppola's Dracula and played an almost unrecognizable policeman Gordon in Batman Begins.) The psycho role was a type.
If you want typecasting, guys who played villains and western sidekicks were great examples. Unfortunately the bottom has dropped out of the market for western sidekicks.

Rutger Hauer seems to have a detached, steely, edge for the character in a good few of his roles, not that I've watched all, but he comes to mind as a kind of constant character type.

Since everyone has posted about someone who's been typecast in one way or another, I figured I'd switch gears a bit and present the anti-typecast. This actor has played many different roles over the years, and you really can't pin him down to any one role. And I always thought he had a really cool name! Presenting,
