Could be good or bad.

Bad:
80 pages of misinformed answers to a theory question.
Making fun of grammar, punctuation, and syntax mistakes.
Making fun of replies to old threads.
Replying with carrots, Fire the drummer, or best _____ for metal.

Good:
10 pages of support for a dad trying to help his son buy his first amp.
Best resource for collective bass wisdom on the planet.

People who only listen to 70's music wondering if rock is dead.

Making sure there's a P-bass thread on the front page at all times.

I would add one to the “negative” list above (kind of touched on already a bit, but):

Chiming in on page 20 of a thread, w/o reading anything past the OP, thus either repeating something that has been said 50 times already, or thinking you are beginning a conversation, when in fact it has already passed you by 18 pages before.
(At least skim so you have an idea what’s happening, please!)

I have an example of typical TB.

New thread, TB'er joined last week, "is bass easier than guitar?", 10 pages in 2 days.

New thread, TB'er joined 10 years ago, "check out this video of my playing and give advice, please", or "what do you think of this head with this cab", 4 responses.

If this is a "typical TalkBass" thread, by page three or so we'll be talking about traffic in Bangladesh or why it's so hard to find a good pastrami on rye in Boise.

And a guy who eats lots of sandwiches in Boise or drives a cab in Bangladesh will be pretty pissed off.



Seriously, we have our moments. But, all in all, I think we get a long pretty well and look out for each other. Bickering about dumb stuff is part of our collective charm.

Now, I am going to have to be in a little town north of Bangladesh for a while and I am a pizza addict. If I have to settle for pastrami on rye while there, will they at least have decent mozzarella and tomatoes to put on there?

I'm not necessarily talking about Grande or other brand-name cheeses, just something good.

Twofer brings up a good point though- some scenes in later Top Gear 2.0 have me thinking I should wear a motorcycle helmet when riding in a cab anywhere in that area of the planet. Just fancy camerawork or is it that bad there?
