Ran it in parallel all the time since it sounded much better (to me) and the volume level then matched up to my other basses when switching out on the fly.
P bass (and Fury, Forum) split coils are centered at 28.5" from the nut (roughly 28 & 29"). J bass neck pickups are at 27.75", and the single coil P bass pickup is at 27 5/16" or pretty much 27.25". The 72 Tele bass pickup is centered at 25". For comparison, the Foundation neck PU is at 28".

Putting the rear (split active) coil of the T40 pickup in the 51 P bass spot would result in the pickup being centered roughly at 27" vs roughly 25" on the 72 Tele. Interestingly, this is exactly where Ernie Ball puts the neck pickups on their HH Stingrays. This location would be a different sound from the Tele bass for sure-a little less fundamental, more punch. Plus, with single coil mode, you would have a pretty darn good 51 P bass type tone on tap!

Thank you for your feedback and the measurement information as well.
I have a '92 Foundation neck & body with no pickups in it.
I had been thinking the T40 (Toaster version) pickup could be routed/mounted centered in the 28" Foundation spot, or if routed offset toward the neck it would land in the 27.75" Jazz spot.
But, if a fresh hole was routed close to the neck it's 25.5 to 25.75 depending on how close you go, I would probably leave a little more wood and go 25.75.
I wonder how similar or different it would sound from my Squier 72 Tele with the Fender WRHB pickup? ...maybe the T40 pickup might give it a different flavor.
The three control cavity holes in that body are ready for vol/tone and a toggle for split coil.

Can't have mine..Flat Topped Humbuckers, second model Dyna 1991 model..sounds more like a Ric than a Ric lol. Will never sell her as its the best bass I have ever owned including my 2017 Ric and 2017 EB Music Man HH 5..Peavey has made some great instruments over the years and heaps of musicians still don't even realize it.

It is the last version. It has the dip switch on the preamp that can change the mid frequency. The PU's are humbuckers. It sounds a lot like the Pallaedium in passive mode. It is in excellent condition. It has a really nice neck on it and it plays great. I had the truss rod cover off when I took the photo because I had made a small adjustment to the relief but the truss rod cover is included.

It is a great bass that has only left the house one time because I have a Cirrus 5 and a Millennium plus 5 and a TL 5. LOL
