Not all are the same. Different windings, coil polarity etc.
Some were used in single coil models... Some dual... Some with preamps... Then different generations

That's not Ash either. So looks like it was stripped. Or a special order perhaps.
I agree based on the non-matching grain...looks like maple...?
Edit. I just noticed they stripped the HS too. I wonder what color it was.
That flame maple is really nice, but I agree that it was most likely painted at one time and stripped because the top is obviously mismatched. To be more accurate, the body was made of three sheets glued together. Looks weren't important since it was going to be painted anyway, but if the entire body was one piece of flame like the middle 1/3 is, then that would be a real looker, minus the mismatched knob, too.
Still, it's a sweet bass and Foundations have always been Ric killers to me, and jazz basses on steroids.
I'm guessing it had a matching headstock, and was one of the LOUD colors like Rose Pearl, which only came with a maple board and matching stock (like yours). I like that finish and would never strip it, but I could see where others might find it a tad obnoxious.
They are not. The replacement knobs were on it when I bought it. I was going to replace them with the T40 style that originally came on the bass, but I’m not willing to spend what they sell for these days.
It finally lives. Confession: I believe I'm the guilty dork who coined "poor man's Modulus."
This may be close to my Modulus stuff.. Not something id suggest doing with a clear conscious.
SOUND
Well sound is a sum of the parts. The Sunday morning Production Staff preferred the Quantum or BQuad. The issue is both were worth too expensive to leave on the wall (my rack and bass stay there).
I normally dirty up strings a bit before going going live - this may have been the clank and overdrive problem.
SOUND SAMPLE
Yesterdays’s DI feed didn’t record (they were busy with a new video feed mixer). The video Feed has a high and low pass filter so not a good source. I’d like to get a sample with a talented vocalist and AList console driver.
SIGNAL CHAIN
The entire signal chain is very close to a Quantum sound
Glenium>Sure Wireless>GKPlex>Yamaha Digital Console>Line Array
CLANKY and HOT
It was super cranky and hot when we first plugged it in... took a Bit to calm it down (could have just been the strings)

LESSONS LEARNED
1-The Millenium neck pocket was like .2MM smaller (we slightly cracked the pocket)
2-The machined shim was between Stu Mac Prototype Shims
3-Long Necks were the only stainless taper cores that would work (we tried several sets)
4-the NOS GV neck was arrow straight... still had a few hours of nut filing/lowering to get the geometry correct.
5-The Hipshots were a direct bolt on from the Millenium Donor neck (no alterations required)
6-The String Retainer is a Floyd Rose Guitar Retainer (the wider one was not easy to locate)
7-Battery clips on a Millenium Suck --- I changed batteries 2 minutes BEFORE going on (stupid)... pulled the terminal off one of the batteries... lesson learned... change batteries AFTER (so we have a week to fix it --- almost destroyed the cheap 9v terminals)
8-The control cavity on a Millenium is way too tight... had a tough time getting it off
