They just don't care if it works or not, just that someone buys it.

A bit off topic but this is not consistent with two my local GC in my area.

Hi all, as I posted much earlier in this thread, I have a B-Ninety Active in Raspberry Pearl that I scored on the cheap just over a year ago. The P pickup stopped working just before Covid, I had a local luthier look at it and they said it looked like the pickup was shot. No worries, I liked how the bridge pickup sounded solo and it wasn't really my go-to bass. I really prefer passive pickups, and I've been hearing great things about the EMG Geezer Butler signature pickups, which have been out of stock since I got interested. Well, yesterday I got home and checked the mail, I had a $200 prepaid Visa from my internet/mobile provider. Got on the computer and found the Geezer P/J set in stock and ordered them. Finally, my question - does anyone think there's a market for the pickups I'm pulling out, knowing that only the J pickup seems to work? Or should I just hold on to them for the day when the world comes to its senses and recognizes the amazingness of US made Peaveys and I'll still have all the original parts? Thanks friends!

If the P pickup is dead, the pair isn't worth much to anyone IMO.
Don't know where Peavey got those pickups, but the B-Ninety was kind of later in the USA Peavey production years and some parts were coming from offshore sources.
They may never have been great pickups to begin with.
I have some dead Peavey pickups in a parts drawer and to me they are just junk in a drawer.
IMO Peavey made great pickup designs that were their own design/shape/size/sound.
The T40 humbucker/T20 Super Ferrite/Foundation Super Ferrite/Patriot Super Ferrite/VFL pickups and several others.
But when they made a standard split P pickup or Jazz type pickup it was just a Fender clone and nothing special.
In my opinion...allegedly. :)

Keeping the original parts is not a bad idea but imho the Geezer set is a respectable mod to that bass.

TBH, I don't see basses like the B90 or Forum/FOrum Plus being untouchable royalty in the future. It's better to have them loaded with good sounding and working pickups. The Geezers are just that.

When I got my Forum Plus, it was loaded with the factory pickups. They were active, EMG style, as in the preamp was contained in the pickup and each pickup had a battery wire-probably the same pickups found in the B90 and/or Foundation S active. The pickups looked sort of like an asian copy of EMG, but didn't sound as good as EMG--they were somewhat ho-hum sounding and were too hot in output. The factory pots were all 50K (EMG uses 25K), so I knew they were some sort of proprietary design. Mind you, I love EMG pickups. I have a few that have been in and out of several basses over the years.
Well, I took out those stock pickups and harness and replaced them with Wilde P46/J45 and a Vol Blend Tone with push/pull series/parallel for the P46. Sounds much better. I sold my original pickups to some fella here on TB, as he was wanting to restore his Foundation S back to stock. I knew they would never be put back in my bass. If I were to put actives in it, I have an old set of EMG P/J that would drop in and sound much better.

Okay so an update on this mystery Peavey I'm chasing:
The current owner does not respond very quickly. He only looks at his stuff for sale every couple of days.
We are supposed to meet up later this week sometime.
He's upped the ante. I made an offer to him and he took it off sale and added a cheap amp to it so now I have to buy an amp also.
It's not much more I'm going to take a shot at it.

The USA Millennium is back for sale at GC and I think at the same location.
Listed as fair condition for $300.99
Still I say the bass looks not visibly effed up.
Maybe an employee could look it over and describe what he/she sees.
Or take some pics and send them via text message.

I don't want a Millennium but I know they are worth more than $300.
Somebody should check it out.

That will clean off the back fairly easily. It's a nice bass and anything under say 3 bills would be reasonable to me.

I have a pristine one in the same color and paid $100 off Facebook Marketplace and got a Peavey guitar amp to boot. I am still astonished at how good a bass it is. The tone is wonderful and it has a great feeling neck on it.

$400 for a good one is not crazy high. I have owned two of Fender's Hot Rod Precisions (P/J) basses and neither sounded nearly as good as this Forum.
