Nice one I've been wanting a Hog Peavey....$800 though...pretty steep.

$800 for a Foundation is not only insane, but borderline criminal in the philosophical sense, not in the free market, ask what you want and the market will respond sense, but in the I'm gonna throw anything at the wall and see what sticks sense. I sure hope some 20 something with a burning pocket doesn't buy it and change all the algorithms and public perception of classic Peaveys. I'd like to know that they are still considered the best budget bass on the planet.

The one that got away all because I tried to get the price down $50 less. Been kicking myself ever since!
I was calling this tobacco because of no real orange or red blend to black which may be incorrect to call it tobacco.

That burst definitely has a different quality to my 91 FL, which is clearly more of a 3 tone.

Not sure if it verifies the claimed year or not. I would tend to think it’s correct based on the old style knobs and super ferrite labeled pup covers?

Whatever year it is and whatever the finish is officially called I think it’s one of the most beautiful Foundation models I’ve ever seen and I’m a complete idiot for letting it get away over a lousy $50

Yes its an 83...I have a very close burst in a fretless version. I would post a picture but still gotsta get me photos into my new compute...

The other reason I really wanted it was to match my T-40 and T-45 which is kinda silly, but you know how G.A.S. Can be sometimes…

I like your mahogany Foundation.
As far as $800 for a Peavey Foundation being expensive, I definitely agree it's way over what we all know is a normal price.
But I will add as I often do...if that was an $800 natural finish mahogany bodied Fender Jazz Bass made in USA, there would be a long line forming to buy it ten minutes after it was posted for sale.
Also, I like the sound a Foundation better than a Jazz, and I like the feel of a Peavey neck better than a Fender.

There's a few reasons for that.
Fender are well known the world over for their instruments, the same can't be said for Peavey.

Fender took great care to spec their MIC/MIM and export MIJ lines to a lesser standard than their USA line. Apart from a select group in the USA, very few people care where Peaveys were assembled. Had a pro player with 30 years under his belt ask if Peaveys were ever made in the US

This holds true for most other brands. Folks buy Gibson Les Pauls because of the name on the peghead, if they wanted a truly great Les Paul it would say Tokai

100%! A Hog US J would probably inflate it 20% minimum since it's not a domestic wood!

Never been a cheap guitar in Europe, looking at $3k to $3.5k for one.

No affiliation with the seller, but I noticed a Peavey Dynabass with Kahler tremolo bridge on Reverb, identical to mine also in color. The seller makes no mention it's a tremolo bridge, wonder if the seller's aware of it.

I didn't notice the bridge...hmmm. It states it uses a 'D' battery, is that true? I have never heard of that in active electronics.

I saw that....it uses a 9V battery. I think he inadvertently thought it was referred to as a "D".. rather than "E".
I can see how one could pass the bridge off as a non-tremolo one. I probably wouldn't have known myself, as when I think of a tremolo bridge, I expect there to be springs on the back like that in a strat. Never really seen a tremolo bridge on a bass in person until now.
The tremolo is so easy to use with a Kahler bass tremolo bar as it's designed specifically for a bass in terms of leverage. Cost was $30 from the authorized Kahler parts place.

There's a 90s Foundy 5 and fretless conversion T40 on ebay for reasonable prices-$250 and $400. They are in a pawn shop in Macon, GA. Both have wear and tear, most certainly were owned by the same player.

Surprised nobody posted this yet - Peavey Patriot w/ case (no affiliations w/ this sale). Don't normally see a post on eBay w/ bidding. Up to 30 watchers already and how many from here are part of that 30? We should take wagers on the final sale price. I say $385, but wouldn't be surprise if higher, due to original case.

Sub $300 for sure. Just based on average pictures and description from someone who doesn't know stringed instruments. The disclosure of it sitting a long time doesn't help, either, but I appreciate the honesty. If I was looking for a Patriot, I'd probably take a shot at this one, as it's nearly identical to mine and I have a solid and straight spare neck hanging out right now.

It ended at $251, $296 shipped. Runnerman didn't overbid on "The Price Is Right, Peavey Edition" and goes on to the Showcase Showdown! haha

So I'm thinking that my hoarding is spilling over to the band. I want to also leave a 4 stringer at the practice space. Open invite for any Peavey bodies that will attach to my spare Patriot neck. 21 fret bodies like the Forum, Fury, Foundation, Dyna, Patriot, etc... 80s or early 90s type bodies preferred as I'm not as big of a fan of the later 90s long horn look.
Condition nor color not important, this is to be a beater practice bass. If it's really bad, it may get spray painted Day-Glo bright. I have various bridges and electronics to complete the job, but am open to whatever.
I saw the gold sparkle Patriot body and white 92 Foundation body on the webs, but the Patriot is overpriced for what it is (if it as least had the pickguard, maybe), the Foundation body is a consideration, though.

There's a red Peavey Dyna bass in the TB classifieds....in pretty good condition, not a beater bass by any means, but what a bass to use as a practice bass.
