If the final price was $300 lower, I'd be all over it! I would prefer to have the active electronics.
Never played this generation of Forum. How are they?
My single pickup model is indeed an anchor, and it plays great. The sound is a little nondescript though, just not a lot of character to that pickup in that spot. I really really really want to pick up a 4 string AX model with the 2 pickups eventually, I think that bridge position would sound killer. Kinda like a Hi-Fi version of the Epiphone embassy I got not long ago.
Mines weighs just over 8lbs.
Totally agree with your "nondescription", a bland bass . Glad it cost me under £100.
Mine is bound to be north of 11, definitely rivals my t-40. Its been in a case for nearly a year now, I just never play it. But they’re not worth anything so I’m just biding my time til someone wants to trade or something, idk. I wouldn’t miss it at all.
I'm interested in one out of pure curiosity. I wonder if the VFL's in those basses sounded any different than the traditional curved VFL's. The overall weight of an instrument is 50/50 for me and obviously a non-factor if I'm sitting and recording with it.
Outside of the cool stuff that @bigtone23 does with his mods -- I wonder why so many Peavey's have their parts swapped out for popular middle-of-the-road electronics? In my opinion, it's like buying a Stingray, G&L, or Rickenbacker and ripping out the electronics. The signature stock electronics in Peavey's are fantastic.

When it comes to Axcelerators and Forums it's likely because of poor design, it's a nest of rat's tails inside them.

On the Axecellerators -- do you know if it's all models or just a few? I have a 2-T model and the routing and electronics appear to be solid. Maybe some of the standard models had a different production process.
If they don't have the weight to moan about that would leave no option other than say something positive.makes no sense.

Does your's have the gray ribbon cable, split into 12 separate strands ?
I can't remember for sure off the top of my head. I do remember the layout being something similar to my Millenniums and GV. I will pop the cover off and give it another look.
My only complaint is that the stacked concentric pot for the active tone is grippy and isn't smooth when dialing it in.

My G&L Jazz is right in that territory. IDK, it seems like there's a double standard for any revered or boutique instrument. I chuckle when I see brand new instruments on the chopping block. You usually see all the pros and none of the cons in the sale descriptions.
