I think they overpaid, too. I would pay that only knowing that I would certainly refurbish and keep the case for another bass and probably have to do some moderate elbow grease work to get it to play right (hopefully without major surgery). Also, a new pickguard would be on the list.

The problem is, many of us here have paid crazy low prices for some really clean Peavey basses.
I've paid $40, $60, $75, $75, $100, $125, $150, $158, $180, $200, $238, and $300 for Peavey basses, some in hard case, some in bag...and some of those in close to new condition.
Now, when something turns up on GC, Reverb, Craigslist, etc....at a reasonable price, I think it's too much.

Some of those inexpensive Peavey deals are getting harder to find as people are either getting wise to Peavey or desperation in trying to find used basses that aren't overpriced. Peavey Fury basses are bought pretty quickly where I live, when your choice is a Squier Affinity P bass or a MIA Peavey Fury, it's not a hard decision to make. Last one I saw sold for $200.

I just looked at the sold listing. Wow, someone sure abused that bass rock star style. I sure hope it plays well when it's rebuilt. I'd love to have bought it. Oh well...

Hey Peavey fam.....my band has a few songs where I like to roll toward the neck p/u on my TL and try and cop a little bit of that P bass vibe. I've had Fenders, Sires, Lakland etc (all jazz basses) and have never really been a fan of the neck p/u blend on those. It wasn't that they were bad, they just didn't impress either. I did a little recording the other night of one of my favorite Arc Angels songs using my 'P bass setting' on my TL. My recording gear is outdated so some of the flavor may have got lost in translation....but I really like what the TL does favoring the neck p/u. I know it's not a true P (obviously) but it works for me. Here is the vid.....let me know what you think. And my apologies to the great Tommy Shannon for the mistakes and desecration of his solid bass playing. :D

Also.....I've never been a P bass guy or even owned one. Heard plenty and fooled around on a few so I'm just going off of what my own ears tell me.

Nice.....it's got the P flavor for sure but more low end to my ears and possibly a bit more mannerly. I can hear some grind but it's fairly polite. A nice tone tho. Great bass and playing. Thanks for posting that.

Yep, for sure....I think the ebony is what makes it a little more 'polite'. I'm definitely one of those guys that knows a P is a P and a jazz trying to emulate a P is just that too. :D I just enjoy the tone I can get out of the TL trying to cop that sound. Thanks for listening!
