It's here in Austin.
Looks to be in pretty good shape.
You can see it came out of a case with broken down foam, there is black foam schmoo all over it, and the frets are really green.
Don't be jelly, you already have the prettiest blue bass!You know damn well that is exactly what I am talkin about...stop rubbin it in!
But I agree Bleekers wild blue Patriot is a very cool color.

I bought one of those at the beginning of the year to try. I pulled it out after a couple hours. Sounded bad and had super low volume. It's been sitting in its box ever since. I have seen people complain about the same troubles but most others have no problems at all with them. Johnny Long seems to put them in darn near anything and they sound good.Good choice.

I saw those complaints to, replied to many of them.
9 from 10 folks had messed up fitting them.
No idea how they can do that, it's hooking up 5 wires at most.
Here they are... I finished!
TL;DR I swapped the bodies on these bad boys. I had a red 91 (my first bass I got new) and a black 95, one that I sniped on ebay, modded and gigged. Now, my red is the best of both worlds AND I put new, Cosmo Black Gotoh tuning machines and bridge on it (and some DP122s I bought on here a few years back). It might be one of my best playing basses, no joke, and I play a Reverend, Fenders, a Stingray. This thing is a beauty.
The black one is all original Peavey now and is going to my drummer as a gift for being awesome. He might wanna rewire it and replace one of the tuners (they did not have the same tuning mount profiles oddly), but otherwise, it plays and sounds great. Put flats on it for him, too.

I'm not surprised at all that your Red Dragon is your #1. How do you like the DP122 ? I was looking into those. I bet they growl !

The DP122s are indeed growly and if you want that out of a P, I highly recommend them. That said, the stock pickups actually sound pretty nice. Pretty bright and would be great for funk. I would at least rewire them and replace the pots if anyone were to grab a stock one. That's all I did with the black one, along with the DPs, and it slayed.

It's a kind of rough condition Peavey neck. You could use it on a standard Peavey.
Fretboard is tape not wood.

The neck is completely shot…super worn frets, ski ramp, etc…. The body has very cool wear to it and has aged to a great cream color. The Super Ferrites sound awesome and have no issues. Would I be better off selling the loaded body or selling the pickups separately and the body later? I know the pickups are desirable, and don’t come up for sale often, but what is the value of a set?

Maybe look for a replacement neck ? It might be cheaper than having the neck redone. I don't know.
I’ve been looking for a year…..nothing. Nada. I’ve kinda resigned to let it all go at this point as I have plenty of killer basses (other Peaveys included) and I’d likely be better served putting the money from selling what I have towards something more useful in the end.
Exactly. I have repaired and installed a number of preamps and everything has been fine. There just isnt much to it if you can solder and the instructions were pretty clear. Maybe it just didnt like the rest of my componentry. I dont know but I was real excited to try it and it was a let down. I have a project bass laying around I was thinking of giving it another shot just to be sure.
Contact the guy at Warpedneck.com. he can probably get it straightened back out. May even do a refret there too. It was fairly inexpensive to get the neck I sent in done. A out 100.00.

I haven't seen any Foundation necks for sale in the last several months, but have seen a couple Patriot necks for sale. I snagged one from ebay. Both were from '85 with the 1.75" nut. A different feel from the Foundation, but it screws right on to the Foundation body and falls into place like it was from the factory. Most any 21 fret Peavey neck will work.
It doesn't address the fret issue, but warpedneck.com certainly can take care of all the other issues. My Dyna 5 neck had multiple warps as well as ski jump, but came back as straight and solid, just like a brand new neck.
You rarely see Super Ferrites for sale, not sure what the value is but if I had to guess, I'd say 20-25 each, 50 for the pair. Somebody might like them for a build.
