U.S. Peavey Club

Congrats!!! I do suspect its rosewood, not ebony.... my early rosewood Peavey boards are very dark. How would one tell the difference for sure?

I figured its rosewood according to this chart I swiped for here a while back...

Well....this post pushed me over the edge, I bought it this morning even before I brushed my teeth! I was negotiating for about $100 off asking price, I saw this post and the fact that it was in someone else's cart...a hard quick "CLICK"!

This bass will look pretty sweet next to my Pearl Rose, Sunfire Red and Pearl White custom Foundations, now I'm only missing a Pearl Heather...

Thanks for the push @Templar. Looks like I'll have a few reviews to do for you guys, I can't wait!

Cheers!
OMG Congrats, Bleeker !!! I saw it in a cart, too and I was going to snag it, but I can't afford it and I just bought an '87 Foundation.

I'm SO STOKED it went to a TB US Peavey Club brother !! It couldn't have gone to a better place !!!

I agree with Robert, if it's in my cart, I buy it within seconds, not hours, or days. Someone else will buy it out from under you if you hesitate. Like you did so gracefully !!! (Not sure if I'm being serious or cheeky). I would've done the same thing. You snooze, you lose.

That is THE NICEST Foundation I will EVER see in my lifetime, guaranteed !!! AND it has the original knobs. It HAS to be ebony !!Maybe it was a custom order, a one off, or a prototype ? The color is PERFECT.
I'm SO jelly !!!!!

Its a bummer that prices seem to be going up on older Peavey models. I mean, the T40 is ridiculous and it seems like T20s and Foundations are following suit (overall at least). The whole reason I stumbled across Peavey instruments was because I was looking for a lot of bang for the buck. They are still great instruments for the price, but I cant just scoop one up on a whim anymore

Treating this as a lesson in being satisfied with my current stable of peaveys I've been so fortunate to acquire. There's always gonna be something else to buy, but the fact that the ones under 300 are scarcer and scarcer these days is definitely a deterrent.

Could be you folks are trapped in a hell of your own making.

You talk about prices rising and that's what sellers read when researching prices.

Over the weekend I was giving a fella ballpark figures for his fretless 5'er Foundation, that's a lot of "F's".
Told him not to go crazy, it was a 96, there's more interest for 4 strings, much less interest for fretless etc.

I reckoned $250 maybe $300 would see someone snap it up pronto. He decided $450 was better.

He paid $50 for it on Friday

It IS silver! You're right, the listing isn't great but it seems to be in fine shape

Yeah I forgot that you'd already handled the bass, so no worries about condition or possible neck issues.

Q's:
How was the weight?
Was the fret board rosewood or ebony? Hard to tell by the pics, but it sure looks dark enough and seemingly devoid enough of grain, to actually be ebony. The only way to know for sure is by the grain, which Bleecker will be able to see in person when it arrives. If it turns out to be ebony, then the bass is even more special.

Haha. I'm glad to hear that my "enabling skills" are still functioning. Congrats on a special bass.

Good luck on the search for a Pearl Heather Foundation. That may be the rarest of the rare Foundation finishes. I almost got one off ebay a few years ago, but it was so beat up that I had to pass on it. Tough decision, it was. It's so cool and uncommon that I saved the listing pics. The only one I've seen....

I'm finding it easier and easier to stay calm when a cool Peavey comes across my radar.
The last four or five times.. I didn't buy, I just posted a heads up here.
I think I have the Peaveys I want.
