Yeah this ^^ seller is def making things difficult re shipping cost. This whole notion of "I'll let you know how much shipping will be after the sale" is BS. That's not how ebay works. He may be in for a rude surprise if/when it sells with the (as in my case) $40 shipping fee, only to find out the buyer is under no obligation to pay more afterwards, but the seller is under obligation to honor the final price on the ebay invoice.

I've done this too many times, but the buyer needs to state in a message that they know and agree to save the seller the grief of a paypal claim. Otherwise it's a great alternative. Doesn't work if it comes in the OHSC though...

The guy Pmd me. Shipping is more, sent pics of recipes, they didn't open, I don't care it is what it is.... There were little words below stating 'do these photos violate ebay policy'...I think they do, I clicked on that. We'll see what happens.

I just picked up this Palaedium and wondered if anyone has seen a Peavey truss rod that looked like this? None of the 3 other Palaediums I have look like this. They all just have the nut.

Truss rod is tight, but works well and the bass is great shape considering what could have been from that packing job. I think I'll hold onto this one for a while until the one being refretted and refinished in matte black comes back from Andrew Drake. At that point, I may move it since I don't necessarily *need* four of them.
I never had a Peavey addiction until I joined this group...

Yeah if the seller is going to include shipping its really on them to make sure they understand what it is before putting it into the post. That said I do understand.... its a tough pill to swallow. I sold a vintage cassette deck a couple years ago and kept dropping the price over about a 6 month period. When it finally sold I had grossly underestimated shipping and when I went to ship it the extra shipping came up to the selling price. But since it was my mistake, I ate it and the buyer got the deck essentially for free plus shipping. My bad.

If you really want the bass, maybe think about splitting the extra shipping. If you really knew the shipping was low when you bid, it might be the right thing to do...obviously your call. It's his fault for sure so you're under no obligation but it might smooth the deal. Just a thought.

Week later it gets relisted.

Happens all the time, mostly when sale prices don't meet the figure the seller had in mind. You can leave negative feedback but sellers can ask for it's removal .

So I replied to the guy just now, about how I am not obligated at all to do anything and $500+ is tops for that bass even in great condition/color, then I mentioned his seller reviews all good and offered to pay half after he ships it... I guess I really want this bass and UPS packing is pretty bomb proof...and as touched upon above I guess it just feels right. I hope the guy agrees.

Yes that can happen which is one way a seller can "cancel" the deal altogether. I've seen it happen, but I think "happens all the time" is a bit over the top. Habitual offenders will eventually have their ebay accounts terminated. Ebay chased away most of the bad sellers when they disallowed sellers' ability to leave neg feedback for the buyers they'd ripped off. The infamous "feedback hostage" scam. Where musical gear is concerned Reverb is the new home for some of those former ebay creepy sellers.

Ebay sellers can ask to have neg feedbacks removed, yes. But that removal requires the offended buyer to agree to the request. Otherwise, the neg stays put, unlike on Reverb where sellers feedbacks are "protected" by Reverb to encourage sales. As a buyer, you're safer dealing on ebay, at least here in the States. I have no clue about what goes on internationally with ebay.

Hard to beat GC return policy and only the $20 shipping is lost on a return and you get 45 days to decide.
GC also makes mistakes, they price basses way too low sometimes.
Craigslist has also been good for me because I have always gotten the price down from the listed price.

Yes this is a problem with Reverb along with the issue we discussed a few pages back where if the seller agrees to take less on an offer, the original price still shows up on the sold listing. So doing a search of Reverb on previous sales on a specific item to determine value is useless. Ebay at least you can see what the item actually sold for. This is why prices are higher on Reverb and continue to get higher and higher as some uneducated buyers are fooled into believing something is worth more than it really is.

Buyer beware on Reverb. Seller beware on Ebay.

I've had good luck with CL over the years buying and selling instruments and different things, I'm in a rural part so things are smaller, few and far between. Things on CL don't change much even in Albany. GC, the nearest one is Williston VT on the other side of a fairly big pond or Albany NY, not much for used gear in either... And the website is almost unusable to me, dark pics or only one pic no descriptions at all, I don't get it. As I have said before in my life this ain't Austin Toto! Lol

Alright, I got a find for yall. This popped up on my local music-go-round's website (Greensboro NC) a few days ago.

Color me intrigued, so I went and checked it out. The bass plays great! And sounds just as good. Oh, and did I mention that it has a matching headstock?

It seems to be in great condition with only some minor scuffs that may even buff out a bit. It comes with a case too. Truth is, I'm getting married in 14 days and couldnt me more stoked so I just dont have the $$$. But this is a great pick up for someone Below are the pictures of any knicks, scuffs, or dings I saw

Well, ordinarily I would jump thru my bunghole for that Foundation, but I also had to refrain from buying Mike's RJ IV he sold here on TB a couple of weeks ago...and that was probably the hardest "pass" I have ever had to take, cause I have wanted a silverburst Randy Jackson for many years! Having to gut and remodel both bathrooms in my house has cleared out my piggy-bank.
