I know some of you wanted to hear my EMG preamp in the Peavey GV

I thought there was a lot of top end but I played with the switches and I believe I have it at its lowest eq point of 2.1

Here it is ran into a GK 800RB plug-in on logic. Slight comp

Dunlop Marcus Miller tuned ADGCF

Bi amped also really gives it a cool Sound

Howdy Y'all?

I owe you a couple reviews. First my 1st get Fury in Gold. This was the one where the guy starting gripping about shipping costs. The add stated the bass was in new looking condition and all his basses are over 50 years old. I said I'd consider paying half the extra shipping when I got bass in hand. I got it. It's a nice bass overall, but not new looking and the chrome doesn't really sparkle. The board is grungy and the strings feel mildewy, seems to be very old flats. I called the guy on these things and after he gave me a tongue thrashing about his add and how the bass has been in the case for 15 years our correspondence ended...wait, where is the case!?! It came in a new cheap gig bag packed just ok, I don't even think it was a UPS Store pack job! I just appreciate honesty in listings and will not tolerate someone talking up an instrument like its new and perfect. Needless to say I didn't pay the extra costs as I overpaid at $500 thinking it was near mint. Oh well, I love it anyway.

With all that said, I tuned it up and plugged 'er in...It plays and sounds great "right outta the box" a little TLC is all she needs... Its a good bass and arrived unscathed. I hope our friend @B-Mac had good luck with his from the same buyer.

Yup another promised review. 1983 Peavey Foundation custom in silver.

This is a sweet bass in very good condition. I was making offers on this bass and after the hands-on review by our own @Templar and talk about the rare Ebony board, I bought it outright. It needs a bit of TR adjustment the action is low so it buzzes a bit but plays ok. The thing is, it's a beauty and fits well into my collection... This is my 4th custom Foundy, I have Silver '83, Pearl White '89, Pearl Rose '85 and Sunfire red '87. The search goes on and on for the ever elusive Pearl Heather Foundation.

It needs a bit of TR adjustment the action is low so it buzzes a bit but plays ok.

Don't want to give a lesson in sucking eggs but, unless it's caused by too little neck relief, raise the bridge saddles.

Peavey's "bent rod with a short thread" TR was just a step up from the steel rod in Danos. Same as Danos, string action is down to shims/micro tilt and bridge saddles.

Greatest Foundation score ever, right there! I may have been the one that spotted the ebony board, but I never laid hands on it, someone else did. If I had, I probably would have bought it for my greedy self! Can't say I've ever seen a Foundation with an ebony board....and in that color?....I'd have caved almost for sure.

I called about it and the guy said the only used bass they have is an MTD.

So they put up an ad for a TL 5...use photos of an Ibanez and then tell me they don't have it. Someone is not doing their job very well, are they?

I was so looking forward to this review ! So is it an ebony board ??? It is a gorgeous bass, for sure. Sounds like you have the ultimate Foundation collection, MUCH more personality that some old tired 7ender collection that every other person on TB has (Yawn..)

As stated, to bad the seller is a wanker and can't just be honest from the start. I'd much rather know that I'm walking into a less than perfect situation than to be pee'd on and told it's raining. (Can I say that here ?)
Also, I agree, the saddles should just be raised a little as opposed to trying to get everything from the truss rod. Finding that balance is what will make your bass play like a top notch player. It just takes practice of doing set ups until it becomes instinct.

That gold Fury is a real looker, and again another 7ender Pbass killer. On both your Fury and Foundation, not only do they have the original P knobs, but also the coveted Super Ferrites which are magic Ric killers.

That's the one Chuck was just talking about. FINALLY, someone listing a top shelf Peavey at a fair price !! I'd also agree with Chuck's assessment that more than likely it just needs a set up. Even if you don't know how to do a set up, a shop will only charge about $60 bucks, so either way it's worth the investment.
What does $550 get you these days as far as a really good 5'er goes ? Not a USA made bass, that's for sure !

After reading the description again, I don't really see anything wrong with it. It could be that he is being overly honest and trying to explain it as well as he can since you can't play it. I don't play 5's, but if I were looking, I'd be willing to take a chance on this one. If one could score it for $450 I'd be even more willing.

GC has a Tobacco Burst Foundation with a case in their Manchester location for $299.
Listed as great condition but they have not posted a pic yet.
In my experience, they are usually in good shape and were well cared for when GC gets a trade in Peavey bass with the case.
If anybody wants it, they are always willing to snap some pics and send them.
I'm really trying to buy no more basses.

I just sold my 4 to fellow TB'er Destroyer661. It is an AMAZING bass. The essence of it is very USA made Peavey. Doesn't feel cheap in any way. Electronics are exactly the same as the Indo Cirrus. I had it set up with stupid low action. For the sub $500 bass category, I go with these and SIRE basses.

I know Chuck feels the same overall, as far as the Milli AC's go.

As I mentioned previously, I received a T-20 this past Wednesday and a Fury around 2 weeks before that.

The bass is in good shape and not counting shipping I paid $300. Its a burst I haven't seen and even though I was looking for the usual sunburst/tobacco burst I thought this was a real beauty.

So here is the 1983 Fury.

Look closely in the background of this picture.
This is the sellers pick of the T-20 I just got and yours looks to be in the background. I had no problems dealing with this seller. The second Peavey was totally by text and no eBay.

And the reason he griped about shipping is that he has UPS do the packaging. UPS shipping is at least $25 less if you pack it yourself, however anything I have received packed by UPS has been packed incredibly well.

You can ship basses for even less if you use a smaller box and take the neck off. I've had basses shipped that way to me using USPS.

Never had the 5'er, just 2 of the 4 strings.

Chinese built violet quilt and Indonesian tiger eye (quilt). I thought they were fine basses, got the pair for £250.
Finish on the Chinese was fantastic, really vibrant. Both were a breeze to set up too, no shims involved.

I much preferred the BXPs to my US Millenniums.
