That's the one Chuck was just talking about. FINALLY, someone listing a top shelf Peavey at a fair price !! I'd also agree with Chuck's assessment that more than likely it just needs a set up. Even if you don't know how to do a set up, a shop will only charge about $60 bucks, so either way it's worth the investment.
What does $550 get you these days as far as a really good 5'er goes ? Not a USA made bass, that's for sure !

After reading the description again, I don't really see anything wrong with it. It could be that he is being overly honest and trying to explain it as well as he can since you can't play it. I don't play 5's, but if I were looking, I'd be willing to take a chance on this one. If one could score it for $450 I'd be even more willing.

When I got my TL-Five it was similar in the way this seller is describing his. Since mine was owned by Stu Cook and played extensively the frets in the ‘money zone’ were destroyed. I took it in and had serviced and now it plays like a dream. That said, it sounded great at last nights show……even Willie liked it!

This is the sellers pick of the T-20 I just got and yours looks to be in the background. I had no problems dealing with this seller. The second Peavey was totally by text and no eBay.

And the reason he griped about shipping is that he has UPS do the packaging. UPS shipping is at least $25 less if you pack it yourself, however anything I have received packed by UPS has been packed incredibly well.

You can ship basses for even less if you use a smaller box and take the neck off. I've had basses shipped that way to me using USPS.

Yes UPS packing is bomb proof, I bought an Orange O-bass, no case. It was wrapped in no less than 25 feet of the big bubble wrap on top of what the seller had wrapped it in. It was 15 long minutes getting' that baby out.

I've just acquired an '85 Dyna Bass and would like to add a Hipshot extender and change the tuners. The originals appear to be Schallers, has anyone had success adding an extender to a Dynamic Bass or any US Peavey with the same tuning keys?

Never used the extender myself but it shouldn't be a problem. The Schallers have 2 locating pins so you may have to plug the holes for them.

Once you've done that, it's fit the replacement tuners as normal.

I have 2 T40 questions please.

First, what is the fret size (no calipers here to measure) and would it be sacrilegious to refret in SS? One of mine has a lot of wear and it's probably better just to replace them.

The second leads on from the first. I saw a T40 5 string conversion recently and would like to do the same. Can anyone refer me to the member who did it and / or a build thread please?
I'll keep the original neck stock (after the refret) and make a new one and I have a corroded bridge I could modify so it could be restored later. Cheers.

Thanks, I was hoping for a drop in, but that's not that much work. I add those to all my 4's as I think they're the handiest little gadgets.

Yup ! I have extenders on all my Peaveys. If you want it to look uniform, just switch the pegs from the Hipshot and the Peavey. Otherwise, as long as the color matches, I never minded too much. They all look "stock".

Howdy Y'all?

I owe you a couple reviews. First my 1st get Fury in Gold. This was the one where the guy starting gripping about shipping costs. The add stated the bass was in new looking condition and all his basses are over 50 years old. I said I'd consider paying half the extra shipping when I got bass in hand. I got it. It's a nice bass overall, but not new looking and the chrome doesn't really sparkle. The board is grungy and the strings feel mildewy, seems to be very old flats. I called the guy on these things and after he gave me a tongue thrashing about his add and how the bass has been in the case for 15 years our correspondence ended...wait, where is the case!?! It came in a new cheap gig bag packed just ok, I don't even think it was a UPS Store pack job! I just appreciate honesty in listings and will not tolerate someone talking up an instrument like its new and perfect. Needless to say I didn't pay the extra costs as I overpaid at $500 thinking it was near mint. Oh well, I love it anyway.

With all that said, I tuned it up and plugged 'er in...It plays and sounds great "right outta the box" a little TLC is all she needs... Its a good bass and arrived unscathed. I hope our friend @B-Mac had good luck with his from the same buyer.

i have two Schaller-type Peaveys with Hipshots. One is blank, the other is labeled Grover. One was advertised as a Hipshot EB4 Xtender, the other one was an EB4 Titan. Both have the guide pins and dropped into each bass really easily and in the most clandestine way.

The frets on most of mine are around .104x.047" or what might be considered "vintage medium jumbo." I don't find SS frets sacrilege at the least. They last virtually forever, what's not to like?
Pretty sure it was Mech who did a T40 5 string conversion. The post is probably in the middle of this 1100 page thread. I roughly remember seeing it a few years ago.

Yup another promised review. 1983 Peavey Foundation custom in silver.

This is a sweet bass in very good condition. I was making offers on this bass and after the hands-on review by our own @Templar and talk about the rare Ebony board, I bought it outright. It needs a bit of TR adjustment the action is low so it buzzes a bit but plays ok. The thing is, it's a beauty and fits well into my collection... This is my 4th custom Foundy, I have Silver '83, Pearl White '89, Pearl Rose '85 and Sunfire red '87. The search goes on and on for the ever elusive Pearl Heather Foundation.

OMG! That is so cool! Despite my narrow minded love of black or green instruments, that Silver/ebony would be a welcome edition here. Plus, it's 1st Gen Foundy, also my favorite!

Both mech and myself did 5 string conversions, there's also a fella in Wales with one.

As I mentioned previously, I received a T-20 this past Wednesday and a Fury around 2 weeks before that.

The bass is in good shape and not counting shipping I paid $300. Its a burst I haven't seen and even though I was looking for the usual sunburst/tobacco burst I thought this was a real beauty.
