Are you saying that you've had G Bass necks that look like the one listed on eBay, or like the one I posted pics of?

I'm trying to calculate the odds of the one on eBay being a misprint. It looks so different from mine.

I've had them both ways... many times a colorant is added to carbon fiber to minimize seeing imperfections (crooked mat etc)

I'd rather see a crooked weave than what looks like a spray painted neck.

How is the feel of the matte finish? I'm a fan of satin, so the matte looks as though it may suit me.

Then you'd love it. I never even considered that aspect. I think it still has a bit of a polycoat feel, but if you take some sand paper to it, you could satin it up, a bit. I sand all my necks for a glass feeling. Just depends what grit you use and how many times you sand it.

I'm desperately trying to imagine in which Universe a 21 fret 35" scale neck with a 1.5" wide nut is classed as a P-bass neck.

99.9% of P-bass necks are 20 fret 34" scale length with at least a 1.65" wide nut.

Besides the Custom shop opening after the G-bass was discontinued ,I've never played , nor heard anyone say , the G-bass has a P-bass neck.

To my mind this makes more sense.

I'm just telling you what I see. If the G-Bass is Peavey's answer to the P-Bass, then why wouldn't it feel fatter ? P-Bass, G-Bass. Even the name says it. Graphite P-bass. G-Bass.

I get that too …
But the most common mod was putting a jazz neck on a p bass because people wanted a smaller neck and it was easier to play.

It's not , the Fury was.

The G-bass was Peavey's answer to the G&L L-1000.

Heck the VFL was originally designed as a passive pickup to rival the MFD, a step too close for the legal dept so it became active.

It was just them reacting to the market and hoping to pinch some sales.

The Millenniums were aimed at potential Lakland 44/55-94 customers.
