U.S. Peavey Club

I’m going to edit this in case I’m breaking rules.

My Peavey lovin’ brothers and sisters... some of you have bought basses from me that I’ve done fretwork on, or other mods and/or repairs. After doing some refrets and other work, a few of my customer/friends prodded me into building and creating my own brand, and have bought some basses from me. I have several that I’m still completing and plans for many more.

Anyways, my skills have grown immensely and I’m now able to make pickguards. I plan to make a guard for my Patriot and possibly refinish it.

Here’s some pics of what I’ve done recently.

Damn, those are SWEET !!!! I need a flat black pick guard for a 1992 Peavey Fury. (Unless you know a better color to go with black. I trust your opinion/open to suggestions.)

The burnt orange '54 Precision is very cool.
What pickups are you putting in the '54 P's?

According to the seller and a quote online from Chip Todd (who made it) it’s Magnolia wood?!

“There were a few specials, like the Magnolia wood T-40 bass for Ken Achard, author of "The History and Development of the American Guitar" (with rear mounted pickups and controls), that were made, with Hartley's blessing, off the records and with their initials for serial numbers. hand-stamped”

My friend wanted a noiseless Nordstrand in the candy tangerine (looks burnt orange for sure). So, that’s what it has. The yellow one was ready except for a pickup. I had an order in with Howard Ulyate, but I got impatient and bought Aguilar’s single coil. It arrived last Friday afternoon, I soldered it in and gigged both basses a few hours later. Both sound fantastic!

My Ulyate order just arrived today: a handful of single coil and split 51 P pups, 1 split 51 5er pickup (that build will be awesome!), a j bass set, and a split 60s style P with MusicMan style large poles for a future tribute build of a Stingray prototype.

I really just wanted to see if doing the caps on the pro bass 500 pre-/control section would help make it sound better lol


Putting it back together I realize that I broke a gray and black lead that connects to the back of the amp I tried to fix it and re soldier it

Turn it on!

all the lights flash that’s great

Play in my bass
No signal
No sound

The pic of the fret end is the one that gets me. Man, that looks nice!

Thanks! That’s one of the frets on John’s bass (owner of Gecko Leather Works or PrecNut here on TB). He didn’t know what a rolled edge was or what that and the fret end treatment would feel like. It was nice hearing his feedback when he received the first bass and the lightbulb went off haha.

Owning Peavey Cirrus and other great playing basses is what drove me to learn what made them feel so “right” and to practice practice practice on older Peaveys and Ibanez.

I miss my Cirrus basses! Can anybody tell me if the 90s and 2000s era Cirrus had rounded and polished fret ends? Cause, the 2 6ers I had played easier than just about every 5 and 6 string bass I’ve laid hands on, still to this day!
