That was really cool. As MANY times as I've heard Sade, I never thought about the bass solo in that song. You NAILED the entire song AND tone. I also love the nerdy Star Wars stuff. Oh, and BOTH basses were Jeff Berlin basses !

No, It's a Dean Jeff Berlin, one of the Czech made ones from 1999. Early run.
I had a brain fart the last time I put strings on my Millennium 5 and did not go through the body. I cannot tell any difference in the way it sounds or plays. Perhaps a side by side of two basses would reveal a difference but I can say for a fact that my bass plays and sounds fantastic as it is. I will string through the body when I next change the strings. Why, you ask. To keep those string grommets from falling out!
As chance would have it, I played that bass in church yesterday. It kills. Yes it does.
I've quite a few basses with thru body or bridge options , like @Chuck M I've never noticed a difference.
String thru body has one use IMO/IME and that is to eat up extra string length, when needed for certain longer sets, so the fat part of the string doesn't wrap around the tuner post. I love having that option.

I do both. On my main Milly (Black Teal/Pau Ferro board) I've been using the D'A EXL 170 BT nickels (45-60-80-107) since they first came out. They will only fit top load. After trying several gauges and load options settled on the exl nickel 130 SL for the Low B and string it through body.
On my back up Milly (tobacco sunburst/maple board) wanted something a little different but with similar tension. Lots of test sets and as of this week have settled on Ken Smith Compressors (44-62-82-105) + 125 taper core. These are long enough to string the whole set through body but I only string the B & E through and top load the others. Really liking the compressors.
This will be the string choices and set ups for both basses for the foreseeable future. (shout out to Jason at Fret Nation for recommending the Ken Smith Compressors)

Nothing super special...other than being a T40 which is special in itself. The condition does look pristine and probably priced with that in mind. I've made offers to Music go Round in the past and they can be willing to dicker depending on the store. I would give them a call and see what they will do.

Special thing is the number of them out there. In 1979 Peavey were only building 2 instruments , T-60 & T-40 . Capacity hadn't reached 500 per day yet but easy 15,000* were built in 1979.
* 1 day per week at 300 units per day.
