The volume drop is most likely the humbucker to single coil "spin-a-split" that happens when the tone control is on 10. Under 7 on the control, it's series humbucking/dual coil. Around 7 on the control, the second coil starts getting blended out, by 10, it's gone and it's just single coil operation.
Plus, there is the the other tone knob: the bass/low mid cut control, which can cause the perceived volume to be lower at some settings.

the tone circuit takes a getting used to, but once you “get it” it’s pretty easy to dial in great tones … I usually run it single coil or straight dual coil if I need more fat. In single coil it does a good job of channeling a 51 style P bass.

+1 on a faulty tube . . . I played a Pro 500 rig for many years - it had the widest tone spectrum (bottom / mid / top) of any amplifier that I've ever owned. Cloudy sounding?? Not even a little bit.

Hello Family -
So, I was talking to my/our buddy Rob today (@Thundar ) telling him that I have a few Milli pre's and a Cirrus pre that are totally useless at the moment.

Have any of you found that the blend pot goes out on both the Cirrus and especially the Milli pre ? I ordered some 250k stacked blend pots to use as a substitute. I don't even know if 250k is right, or if it should be 25k like the volume pot ? I DID get signal from one side, and barely a whisper from the other.

I don't know how to explain it, so I'll just use some photos. I took a blend pot and looked online and saw you're supposed to criss-cross the wires on the blend pot, but I wanted to see if just going 3 from left to the lower 3, and the right using the top 3 solder leads. I don't know how to test it, etc, so it's trial and error, which takes forever !!!

The blends work where as you turn one wafer up, the other wafer is turned down. So the signal and ground is are opposite from one wafer to the other.
The Peavey factory pots are 20K, but 25K should work. Make sure they are blend pots, they have a special taper.
