Peavey's version of the Alembic Series II !

Hey all - looking for recommendations on a preamp swap for one of my Milly 5’s. Has anyone dropped an Audere in ? I’m assuming the John East would be great - if I could find one in stock anywhere! Any other suggestions would be great - thanks!

I loved my John East pre. It was in a bass I sold. Very musical a, sound easier to use than it looks. I think I had Geezer's in it, so for VFL pups I think you'd need to switch to 25K pots.

I know I've used Bartolini NTMB pre's on MANY Cirrus's and they sound a little more brittle than the stock pre, so maybe if you changed a cap, or added a resistor or something to warm it up, but not necessary by any means. It was nearly indistinguishable from stock.

I've also used a Cirrus pre in a Milli and it was great.

Tried Aguilar was bit agressive on my cirrus but. awesome too!!

Bart I had was way way way to dark I had to max out treble to get anything

You can configure the EMG preamps pretty much however you want....so there is always a way to fill up the hole. EMG sells plenty of "add-ons" you can add...youre not stuck with just V/V/B/T

It's on my list of stuff to try. A TB friend over on the Spector page just put EMG X-series PJ pickups on her EuroLT4 with the Darkglass preamp and loves it.

How about everyone here sends me $5 and I'll but one and see.

I had a darkglass in my yamaha RBX John myung.
It had low output. Switched to Emg pickups and Delano pickups

but depending your config you don’t need the switch or can add it as a pickup toggle. EQ BYPASS or anything really

That looks great !! I never thought of a yoga mat ! I use those black rolls of cupboard liner, which works just as well.

I use mineral spirits. Doesn't have any smell to it.

My wife picked up the yoga mat for me and I think I'm going to use double sided carpet tape this time. Last time I used spray adhesive which was a bit messy and had to do outside and it's hot as blazes here. I'll finish it up tomorrow.

In the meantime, my second project today was to improve my case/bass storage.

I designed and built this rack for about $20... would have been less except for the cost of lumber.
Front and back views with a couple cases in there to see how they fit. Final pic is in the closet with enough room left for the case being restored. All are full and I have 3 basses out on a rack also.

So I did get my Foundation back from the luthier a while ago. At first I wasn't really happy with the job he did to fix where the plastic tugbar had been but now that I've had it out again, it doesn't seem as bad as it did at first.

To see what it looked like when I bought it see here....

You guys remember my Ash Foundation score about 6 months ago. It had finish issues on the back due to the melting case foam and about the ugliest thumb rest installation of all time??? Reminder....

The good news is that's its going into my luthier this Saturday and he is confident he can do a fix on it that only I would be able to see knowing where the screw holes are. So I'm pretty excited. I've used it on a couple gigs and it's just killer. I'll be using it on a whole lot more when it's pretty again. I'll post pics when she's done.

And here is the repaired bass. I don't think any one would notice it unless they looked closely. Not from the stage for sure. Other than a complete sand down and refin of the body, that's about as good as it will get.
