My application for club membership

I am shocked by the excellent condition of this 1984 Peavey Foundation. What looks like a tiny scratch in the lower left bout is just a little wiry hair courtesy of my terrier. It came with the original bullet hard case with manual! Neck is dialed in perfectly with no fret buzz from first to last fret. While all my other basses are Precisions with alnico pickups, I've always loved the aggressive edge of ceramic pickups and the Super Ferrites definitely deliver. I just got it this past Sunday. It currently has D'Addario Half Wounds that will soon be replaced with my fave DR HiBeams for even more aggressive edge. I can't wait to unleash it at my next band rehearsal.

So, I made a couple changes...

Kodiakblair (Davie) has a friend Brian Pillans in Glasgow who makes pickguards and he made me two nice ones that fit exactly correctly.

My Gen 1 ash Fury had a pickguard on it that I bought from a maker in Florida, and it is a really well made and nice looking guard but I think it would look a lot better on a bass that isn't all gold/yellow/tan-ish.
I needed to see more contrast to the ash body and maple neck.
This one now has what Brian calls Vintage Dark Tortoise. I like it.

My '62 Blue color Gen 2 Fury had the original white pickguard (aged to a nice cream) on it since it was new, but I swapped the hardware to black and decided a black guard might look good.

I have used 1/4 inch yoga mat and spray adhesive in a couple cases as suggested by someone here on this very forum. Works great!

I might try that as it's not exactly a snug fit inside the case with all that hard plastic. It will also make for a funny moment when my wife asks if I have seen her yoga mat :-D

I just picked this Dyna 5 up in Reverb from a guy in Toledo Ohio. I was hoping it might be one of you, but in any case, I was looking for a decent 5 that wouldn’t break the bank. I hear these can be really good.

Yeah, not everybody likes everything...I loved both the Dynas Ive owned, and I have that preamp in several Peavey's that I still own, and once you figure out the settings you like, its gold! I am really frustrated with the wilkenson and vintage style Peavey bridges. Have any of you had a problem with buzzing from these? I've had this problem with the saddles rubbing against one another creating a buzz. I have repeatedly created space between the D and G saddles where this usually occurs. But I'm at my wits end with this. I had this on one of my Accelorator 5 strings and replaced the bridge with a Schaller. The original was a Wilkenson. Is there a drop in replacement for a Peavey vintage style bridge like on a Foundation 4?

Ive always found the peavey bridges to be very solid in that regard, you're sure the saddles are parallel to one another? If I'm ever having issues in that regard, I'll deck all the saddles and snug the grub screws so theyre just touching the baseplate, then raise the action by turning equal amounts to each screw. Keeps the spacing regular and the load evenly dispersed across each height adjustment grub screw.

Are you sure it's not a loose tuner key? When they buzz it's hard to tell where it's coming from. I thought I had a loose truss rod buzzing on my Fury until I finally figured it out.

Thank you! That's it! It's the G key. When I finally got the bass today it didn't buzz. But after playing it for awhile it started buzzing. now to figure out how to get it to stop?

put a small drop of crazy glue on the area where the tuner is rattling. that should do it.

mine was rattling right were the clover part was clinched to the tuner shaft so check there.
