My friend in high school (late 90's) had a USA made Milestone 2. I always thought it was nice.

Hate to break this to you but the Milestone II was a Korean bass launched in 1995, it followed the 1994 Milestone I (also Korean). Milestone III and IV appeared in 1999, pretty cool basses; the first 4 string Peaveys I remember having TR adjustment wheels.

Yeah, I'm realizing I'm not remembering something correctly. I know it had two J pickups, sunburst 4 string, pretty sure it had the block Peavey logo. He bought it new in 1998-99. I was sure it said USA made, because I was impressed it was so cheap (less than $200USD)

It was years ago and you were at high school, there was a helluva lot more things demanding your attention than a $200 bass

What about the Milestone II International Series? Is that a Milestone or perhaps a bass with swapped neck? I can see different pickup configurations, but different pickups and a radically different body?

No affiliation. There is a beautiful red Accelerator 5 on FB Marketplace if you are in the Middleport, OH area.

Wrote him to see if it's available. He's 3 hours and 39 min from me, and a little over 400 miles round-trip. My car does around 400 miles a tank/34.5 mpg, hmmm....

I've got a couple of Milestone IIs. I like them as much as I like my Fenders.

As much as I'd like to check that bass out, got car repairs and schtuff that take priority. Btw, the owner of said Accelerator 5 told me that it's still available.

So, I made a couple changes...

Kodiakblair (Davie) has a friend Brian Pillans in Glasgow who makes pickguards and he made me two nice ones that fit exactly correctly.
His contact email is [email protected]

My Gen 1 ash Fury had a pickguard on it that I bought from a maker in Florida, and it is a really well made and nice looking guard but I think it would look a lot better on a bass that isn't all gold/yellow/tan-ish.
I needed to see more contrast to the ash body and maple neck.
This one now has what Brian calls Vintage Dark Tortoise. I like it.

My '62 Blue color Gen 2 Fury had the original white pickguard (aged to a nice cream) on it since it was new, but I swapped the hardware to black and decided a black guard might look good.
Before and after pics, because we all like to look a bass porn.

That tort looks pretty damn good on there.

I think the previous pickguard from Mike Quick at Quickguards Florida is a cool guard, I just think the ash and maple needed a darker contrast.
I thought of going back to the original black that was the stock guard color but decided a nice dark tort might be just right.

I like both of those on that natural...but that blacked out Fury is killer!

I like blue basses with black hardware, a couple years ago our friend Mech hooked me up with black hardware and I had it on my mahogany Patriot but one day decided that black n blue would look cool, so a black guard finished the black n blue...I think it looks killer too.
