I hate to break up the party, but do any of you know what these wires do ? I have these extra pups from Amber on Reverb and a member asked what they do. I said I have to ask the real experts .... YOU.

Depends on the model.

For a passive pickup.

Green/White soldered together like that have your coils in series.

Black and red are normally positive/negative, which would make braided a ground.

If it was an active pickup I'd only expect 3 wires; black/white with the red drawing battery power.

I was told here it's a passive pickup. The wires came soldered like that, so I'm sure they're correct. Un-soldering them gives you series / parallel option ?

I've listened to a number of YouTube vids where Nylon Flats sound good but I don't know how they feel.
I assume very easy on the fingers but are they sticky?

I use D'Addario tapewounds on a couple basses. They're smooth as glass and very low tension. They actually have more high-end snap than you'd expect with the tone control open. Roll it back and you a dark, flatwound vibe.

Me too! I typically dont like any flats or tapes but those D'Addario tapes are killer...I think cause they are tape over roundwounds. Sound great on my fretless!

If you wanted it parallel then what would you do lol

Red is hot, black goes to ground. Not sure which end is green and white, you can under and check for conductivity on the green to red or black and you'll know pretty quickly.

Sure, try it in parallel. Put it on a switch for extra points.

Can anyone help with specifics on these pups? Are they single or double pole per string? If single, what is the string spacing. I'm wondering if I could use them "Old Smoothy" style on my G Bass.

I realize these are some specifics that are likely to remain unknown, but figured I'd ask.

I would guess it's a bar, more in line with Peaveys method of using the same part for different models.
I guess the big question is are they side by side or stacked coils? A handful of paperclips or a sheet of that magnetic flux paper would tell us.

So, when i put a paper clip on the edge, it gets sucked in about 1/4" (6mm). Not sure what that means, because it could be a shorter bar ?

I'd been planning on dual P pups for my G Bass project, but seeing these Peaveys started me thinking.

Now I'm considering finding a pair of Super Ferrites and giving the G the Ric treatment. Too many options.

Such an INCREDIBLE bass. The preamp on these are perfect. I miss mine a little. (Little, because I had to make a choice of what to keep and I chose Cirrus. )
If I were looking for a Fender type bass that does everything well, the Axcelerator is it.
