Yes. I have Labella Black Tape Wounds on my G Bass. They are totally smooth and sound and feel really good. I'll replace them with TI Flats at some point, but I'm pleased with them for now. These are also low tension, and cheaper than the TIs.

No. Not at all. The only reason I'll replace them with TIs eventually is that I like the sound better.
GHS Precision Flats are pretty low tension in the flat wound world. Their lightest set is 45-95.
You thinking Thomastik Infeld jazz flats ?

is there any significance to the Patriot logo being in script? This came with an all black Pat I bought "just for the neck" to go with the gold hardware Patriot I got. I then desided the Blacked out bass was too cool to split up. The gold hardware one will get a neck like it originally came with... They are at the shop now along with one that's getting the RicRiot treatment.

Same logo on my 1987.
I think that's just what they were doing that year. Mine also has the 1.5 nut width.
I have two patriots, one with the script font and a slimmer nut, and one with a blocky font and a wider nut. I've always assumed they all follow that pattern, but i'd be surprised if there weren't exceptions to that rule.
Peavey changed their headstock fonts on their basses every year or two it seems.
I like some better than others, but I think not being consistent does not help your brand.

When they made the awesome Gen I Fury, they should have stuck with that body shape for the Fury and Foundation basses from then on.

That's the same case with my 2 Patriot necks.
Seems the early Patriots (85-86?) had the wide nut and block font. The later ones (87-88?) the script and narrow nut.
I really like those Patriot Customs in all black with rosewood. Mean looking! Is that one getting RicRioted?
It is pretty cool, I like it too, but it isn't the one, I have an aged (going green) Frost blue one that's getting RicRioted... How do you have the controls set upon yours? I was thinking going with V/V/Tone?...and I'm having the jack moved to the side of the bass.
Also I just ordered a pick guard for the gold hardware one in black/yellow/black, I hope it look killer!

I bought a mahogany Patriot that was dirty and in rough shape off of FB Marketplace for $75. Electronics and neck were in good shape. After some sanding, cleaning,shielding, new pickguard and some transtint red on the body, she looks, plays and sounds good. Before and after pic.

Yeah, I could not pass that up. I thought for sure the neck would be jacked up for that price but it is straight, truss rod works, pickup worked, frets in good shape and hardware worked. It had a few bumps and bruises and had not been cleaned in forever. I just had to refurbish it and bring it back to life. I went with transtint red as mahogany is a reddish wood anyway and I did not want to completely cover the wood grain.
I did it VOlume, Tone, 3-way switch. I rarely do blending, and wanted to have the switch, since it’s integral to the Ric thing.

Remember Peavey, Twinkies, and Roaches...Sweet bass !! It looks fantastic and the red hue looks great, like Bleecker said.
