100% certain the passive PJ has ceramic magnet pickups.

Forum Plus was the active version. Likely the pickups in those also had ceramic magnets, their use is pretty much SOP for active pickups.

Which one is it? USA made? What store location? In Florida?
I don't see a Fury listed for $419 in GC used.
I only see a Millennium BXP in Orlando Florida location.
Lots of USA made Fury basses come cheaper than that, but if it's in good shape and you like it a lot, a good USA made P bass for $419 is not a bad thing.

You got any pictures of it?
Does the pickup look like a regular Fender Precision type?
Body color?
All maple neck or rosewood fretboard?
Condition of the body?
Neck looks and feels right? Does it play well the way it is right now?

So, you could get a cheaper Peavey Fury bass...
but you will not likely get a better USA made P bass with a neck that feels as good as a USA made Peavey Fury for that price!
Most all of us here have bought cheaper Peaveys over the years but prices have jumped up a lot in the last year ...for every damn thing.

I got a used Patriot from MF a few months back and it is rough. I still need a new nut and PG besides some body work. I agreed to the $400 because I wanted the super ferrite sound but beware, "vintage" condition needs work. The bass plays and sounds great but because of the repairs I will have to do it pretty much makes it a keeper even if that was not my original intent.

He got to play the bass and likes it.
Any bass I ever got from GC went right back if it was not in the condition I was looking for, and I've gotten a dozen cherry basses from them for crazy cheap.
It's a $20 gamble, they give you your money back less the $20 shipping (if you didn't buy it locally).

Patriots are great basses, cut through the mix like no other IMHO.

Pickguard Planet makes a drop PG for patriots.

That friend of mine in Glasgow has the template for Patriot PGs.

3 ply BWB PG will run to $48 inc shipping from Scotland. Brian's turnaround is couple of days with delivery taking about 6 days, be about 10 days all in :thumbsup:

He is fast and priced right, my two guards came out nice. His tort guards are the real bargain.

For small venues but without compromise, I really like using my Peavey MAX 250. Love the eq versatility and the 15" speaker combined with the twitter. The overall capabilities of this combo are surprising to the MAX (you've seen what I did here!!!). Anyway, I love how I can get the sound I'm looking for with either a passive J-Bass or a P-Bass and with any of the active basses I can trough at it (and I have plenty). :)

Now THAT is cool and a STEAL !! Peavey USA was ALWAYS ahead of the game and strove for being the best, not number 2. (Oh I walked into that one !)
It looks like Mike Pope knobs, or since those were popular at the time maybe it was going for a Fodera look ? so I'm super curious what's the preamp.

EDIT : I'm sure those are Millennium pickups, so it's probably a new design that's a mix between a Dyna / Cirrus bass preamp, and maybe traditional VVT in ? I'm sure the small knobs are the EQ. The big ones are volume, blend, and what are the other two ?

Good thing it's pick up only or I'd consider buying another bass I DON'T NEED or can afford. I'm an addict. Peavey addict. I have no days clean.
