U.S. Peavey Club

I bought this and a Peavey guitar amp off Craigslist for $100. Deals like this are few but sometimes you score. The passive P/J Forum is one of the unsung hero's among the Peavey basses. My bass absolutely is the best playing/sounding P/J that I have ever had my hands on. The downside is that it is red! I would rather have black but I am just counting my blessings. Another plus is that the passive P/J forum has a humbicking J pickup so there are no buzzing issues with it. The tone is fantastic and they all were made with Rosewood fingerboards.

I don't think it's a case of "can't be bothered" Andy, more overwhelmed.

As Tim rightly said, her stock came from the Peavey clearance auction. Amber saw it as a business opportunity despite not being too clued up on what she actually bought. There in lays the problem, Amber gets plenty of requests but unless they are accompanied by photos and details; she's at a loss how to fill the requests.

What is it you are after ?

A set of P/J active pickups - as fitted to the RJIV. I commented on a Facebook post and said that I’d message her but haven’t heard anything since.
It’s no big deal - I’m not that desperate for them....

Here was my experience.

She had a body that looked incredible. The photographs were realistic.

I contacted her with "I want to buy that body - how would you like payment (I'd also like to buy a few other things"

In my case it was "black knobs and a black bridge." I received pix with options in a few days. Sent my money and we agreed on reasonable shipping timelines (I've done shipping, it sucks to have someone ask for a tracking number the same day).

When I returned home, we quick connected -- she shipped at her convenience.

There are folks here that will know "January 22, 2004 Millenium Preamp." This type of knowldge will come with a premium cost.

It was an honest deal - I'd buy again - Amber gets some cool stuff.

About your RJ pickups... wasn't there a cross reference (rumor) to EMG?

When I buy international. I'll pay for the part...then add shipping after it's calculated.

"how much to bangladesh" is a time suck waste of time for individual sellers - shipping cost is exactly what it is.

In a former life, I used to ship 1000 aircooled VW parts per year. It took a month to understand who was serious and ready - and who was just curious. "I want to buy your item XYZ and have paypal ready is a tell tale sign someone is ready.

Yes, there were rumours that they were re-branded EMG p/ups - who knows?
On the Peavey Bass Guitars Facebook group Amber also posted a photo of a bare RJIV body/neck asking if anyone could identify it - of course people did and I messaged her about price and shipping costs but again never got a reply.
I wasn’t being facetious , by the way, when I suggested that maybe she can’t be bothered with international shipping - I know how much of a pain it can be and it’s half a world away....

I do plenty of international shipping, it's not that involved.

You look up the HS code and enter it in the booking sheet. Courier emails you with labels and customs forms, print the labels as usual and run off 3 customs forms. HS code is already on the customs form, all you do is print name/sign and date.

Big thing that freaks out folks in the US is payment. Ask for name,address, email, contact number then bank account/sort code in Europe, nobody bats an eyelid. Ask the same from an American, there's a 10 page TB 'scam alert' :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Whenever I list something for sale on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, the first (and immediate) response I get is from somebody (Albania last week) in a far away country trying to get enough information out of me to steal money.
After I ask a few questions I figure out it's not anybody wanting to buy a bass.
Last week she was working the cashiers check scam and when I said Paypal or Venmo only, she asked for enough Venmo information to steal money.
The address the person in Albania gave was an address in The Bronx New York City (which was an empty lot on Google Maps) and told me her sister would be coming to pick it up tomorrow (the Bronx is 1800 miles away from me). When I told her it was a 26 hour drive, she told me to just give her the information she wanted.
Unfortunately, the stealing scams are very much alive and well.

Must be a difference with your banking system.Paypal is frowned upon in both Germany and France, folks there have no qualms handing bank details to strangers.You need permission to take money from accounts. Scams do happen though mostly it's buyers not receiving goods.

Like I said I do plenty of international dealings; Europe, Africa, Australia. Only place folks take issue is the USA, always a hassle and you always lose money.

I sold/sent a 1985 Guild Pilot to a TB member in Denmark and it was not hard at all, I used the US Postal Service.
But I know this guy from the Guild Pilot thread on Talkbass and had no scam concerns to worry about so Paypal friends and family was easy, easy.
Buying a pickguard from your friend Brian was really easy.
