Is that a Patriot in the third picture, the black with pearloid PG?

Not a Patriot, that's an Axcelerator; production years were 1994 to 1998.

Patriot were the cheapest model Peavey sold, MMR in 1985 was $225. Only ever came with one single coil pickup, sometimes with a pickup ring like the Foundation and Dynabass. For a short time you could order one with either a wider P-bass type neck or the narrower jazz style.

Yes it was. Matt has put a lot of diligent work to get his pickups and accurate sounding replacement with options.

For the recreations. The covers were designed in CAD and then 3D printed. Blades are cut from U S. Certified Steel stock. Bobbin is laser cut from U.S. Vulcanex fiber board. Coil is wound with U S. Magnet wire. Lead wire is audio grade Mogami from Japan. Shielding is 3M copper tape. All connections made with audio grade silver solder. The magnets are from a well known magnet distributor. We also include U.S. stainless steel proprietary factory style mounting screws. Built in California. We price our pickups by cost of materials and build time.

Patriot necks from 1987 were very nice IMO, I would guess that is '87 or close to that by the logo fonts.
What happened to the pickup that was originally in the Patriot body?
The Foundation body looks like it was from the same batch as the one I bought from Peavey, mine does not appear to have red under the white though.
Amber (former Peavey employee) bought a bunch of stuff from Peavey some time ago and sells on her Brown Eyed Girl Ebay site.
Not sure it that's where you got it but she has sold a bunch of stuff to some of the fellas here.
I have seen more that one color on Peavey basses and on Fender basses too, they don't seem shy about changing the color for whatever reason, you pull a neck off and see that it was once another color first.

That is who I got the Foundation body from. I was surprised it was in pretty much brand new condition, other than one small nick where you can see red paint through the white. I still have the pickup from the patriot. I removed the electronics in one chunk and put it in a plastic bag ;-) .

As far as the Axcelerator, there is a second pickup that is hard to see in the bridge position.

The patriot was so unloved when I got it. I think it was 73 dollars from guitar center, and the E string was wound from the bottom up, so it didn't touch the nut. It took me a second to figure out why it didn't play right.

There is some serious Super Ferrite love here. Many can't imagine not using the SF. (Including me, it's my favorite bass pickup.) That's the whole impetus of the Matt Kustom/XsoGol alliance, to bring the SF greatness to more platforms other than it's own unique dimensions.
But hey, you do you! No hate for a modified Patriot here!

Won't be winding any pickups, haven't nearly the patience to learn that skillset.
I have a spare 1992 Foundation neck that's been sitting here, and this loaded 1999 body turned up over at Peavey recently for $119 USD.
So I bought it and then started asking questions about the pickups.
It will be here in a couple days.

But the color is somewhere between Fender Arctic White and Fender Olympic White.
I think Arctic is more bright white and Olympic is slightly less white than this body.

I believe they advertised it as “white” I looked for a catalog but it was archived and wanted a password to access it, anyway 20 year plus old body probably started out as white and “aged” nicely to that. My 92 Fury was white and now appears a gorgeous olympic white or “aged” white. I love that color, enjoy it.

Recently purchased a black, circa '95+ Foundation (w/ PEAVEY logo soap bars), ser. 079XX that's cosmetically challenged with a rough to fair grading on the back of the body--loads of edge paint chips. Rosewood fret board, straight neck, stock hardware present. Frets look fantastic & it's playable. Possibly worthy of a refinish (?), pics to come so as to secure feedback from the brethren here. Not sure if this is the place or against forum rules to post what the price paid was, will hold off on that piece until confirmation that it's OK as not a paying subscriber and fear being booted.

I'll say depends, even without seeing photos or knowing what you paid.

Foundations of any age or condition typically sell in the $300 - $400 range on eBay, Guitar Center and MGR, plenty private sales go for less. If the cost of the refinish + the cost of the bass comes in under that $300 - $400 line then it might be an idea.

I grabbed a black Fury not too long ago that had some battle scars, paint chips dings ect. I let that one ride “as is” not worth the time (for me at least) to strip paint to patch up/fill dings then prime and repaint since it’s a $300-ish bass either way road worn or freshly painted.

Foundation falls into that crazy, gray zone on what to do with it,... is it worthy (refinish)?
Any/All feedback appreciated. Local CL find, price paid = buck seventy-five.
Included a black, light-weight material, no-name, un-padded gig bag. Seller was pro & cordial, a hobbyist who restored it to its current state. He secured it in a storage locker clean-out. That's all...

Be sweet to see this instrument in Arctic White or Fender Olympic White that @58kites mentioned above. Anyone else have an alternative, 'conservative' color they would suggest if it is decided to go the refinish route? Ears are open,... Thank you in advance!

White, black and sunburst are three colors that often look great to me with aged road worn looks.
That one looks okay beat up... but if you were going to repaint it I love a white or aged white body with a rosewood fretboard.
I would be happier with mine if it had a rosewood fretboard.

Thanks for the comment. This is my first rosewood fretboard. Agree with you that white looks great with it. Was considering a Daphne Blue (Fender), Lake Placid Blue (Fender) or Powder Blue as the rosewood and natural headstock colors might give it some balance like the older Strats?
