B -- super useful with 2 conditions

1-Tasteful --- used for build dynamics and not riding an open B all day long
2-Gear ---- some gear just will not handle a B.

Over the past like 10 years, gear has gotten a ton better... low end response and availability are now reality.

I play a ton of urban gospel (think CeCe Winans etc)... often the key is Eb or Bb

It's also useful in the country scenes to have a B string (can use a C or D..... many guys detune half step to Eb)

My upright... my 6 stringers (everything except my tele) are all B-B tuned..
... the upright is BEAD... so is my USA P... so is my stealth fury

I've never really gelled with a 6 string (was "almost" good enough - but not clear enough to chord with)

I gig often with a 7 string... it's rare and tough to find an extended range that eloquently morphs from bass to guitar.

I'll say 5 or 7 is easier with fewer position jumping etc.

I'll go on a limb and say the TL6 was the best 6er Peavey put out.

So the TL-6 is better than the Cirrus 6?

I've gone from being pretty excited about 5-string to not really using it much. I realized it's like 4 notes a gig that really benefit, and they are four glorious notes, but I now just use my HX Stomp to drop my 4-string to BEAD on the songs I want it, and it's fine. I don't know what I would do with a 6th string.

My favorite Peavey 6’s are the Cirrus and Axcelerator. I did not care for the electronics or the bridge used on the TL6. The second generation TL5 is a wonderful bass IMO.

I don't know of any other piece of equipment that's more versatile. The presets are garbage, so it takes a little time to get a sound, but otherwise, it does effects, amps, cabs, IR's, can mix 3 inputs, good computer interface for practice, etc., etc., etc. Every time I need something different, it can do it. And the support is unparalleled. Personally, I think Line6 is a different company since Yamaha bought it.

My guitar player is trying to convince me to get a Headrush Gigboard. Seems to be at a similar price point as the HX Stomp. The amp and cab modelling is limited for bass but what is there in the latest software is very good. I'd like to retire the old Sansamp programmable BDI and other pedals at some point for something all in one. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I've got some parts that I'm going to be putting together. All I need is a body. This one has been on CL for a while. Is it a Peavey? The hole in the center of the neck pocket makes me think it might be.

The spray booth hang hole is common to many basses. Control cavity routing is unlike any I saw Peavey use. Then there's the split coil, Peavey did many split coil designs though usually as part of a PJ. Only sole split coil I can think of was the Fury, those had scratchplates hiding huge router channels.

Interesting top. Forearm curve suggest veneer to plywood. BTW, nothing wrong with ply; sensible use of materials resulting in a much more stable product.

Doesn't look like a Peavey ans the neck pocket does not look like it would work the way it is.
Pretty sure that is a Precision shape or a close to a Precision shape.
Bring your neck with you to see what you can do with the two of them to make it work.

$25 is a ok price if it's usable for you... maybe Hondo or Silvertone? Just guessing based on the lam body.

Since you asked, $0.02...

Considering what it's made of and the condition it's in, I'd say it's not worth $50. Nor the gas you'll burn up to go get it, even at $25. I think you should pass on it.

This build I have in mind is meant to be cheap, and look cheap, but to play and sound good.

I got a Jazz neck for free. The body will be converted to string thru and have a triangular prism shaped floating bridge. It'll probably get some potentially tacky decoration like wood burning or something. I've got a few P Bass pickups, pots, and tone caps lying around. So cash outlay can be minimal.

@kodiakblair says that plywood is likely to be more stable than solid wood. I have no reason to disbelieve this, and since I am in the "Tonewoods only apply to acoustics" camp, then plywood is a double plus good (looks cheap and is more stable.)

I do honestly appreciate the feedback. I hadn't given enough information for anyone to access the value with consideration of my build objectives.
