Here's my favorite slant fury, it has a foundation neck on it, what a player! This was last summer at the ski jumping complex in Lake Placid NY. Fun time.

Nice looking bass Bleecker, I like the black headstock with the black pickguard.


I'm sure I've showed off this Slant more than once but here is the way it sits now.
Bought it from Mech, and it had a stacked two-band EMG Pre in it when I got it.
It also had a black pickguard and an all maple 1987 Fury neck.
At some point, Ronnie (Mech) even had a five string neck and bridge on it.
I immediately took the EMG Pre out to go passive.
Swapped out the huge original bridge saddles to brass Wilkinsons to lower the action without needing a neck shim or using the dreaded micro-tilt.
Eventually I bought a tort guard for it, the black guard had a warp where the Pre was stuffed in with the controls.
Put black pickguard screws on it because I like them with most pickguards.
Bleecker sent me Peavey control knobs to make it look more vintage accurate.
This year the neck got swapped out to this rosewood fretboard Fury neck ('87 I think) courtesy of XsoGol.
What I would really, really like is a Peavey 1.75" wide nut rosewood fretboard neck from a T20, Patriot or T45.
Then this bass would truly be my version of a 1962 Precision.

Did they make Patriot necks 1 3/4" in a rosewood board...? I haven't seen that.

God I love this bass sir... and, yes, the maple/rosewood neck on your 1st Gen Fury came off of an '87 3TS Fury. That '87 3TS Fury body now has the all rosewood 32" Warmoth Warhead neck on it and a black pickguard (I need to take a better pic of this bass...you can see a stock pick of that bass before I took her apart for @58kites and I here)

I don't know...
I'm sure there are guys here that know Peavey bass history better than me.
The T20 neck was available with rosewood, I think the T45 was available with rosewood.
I think both of them came with a 1.75 nut but I could be wrong.
Some Patriots came with the 1.75 nut neck but I don't know if they offered rosewood with the Patriot.
I also don't know whether all the wide nut Peavey necks were exactly the same neck profile.
I bet kodiakblair (Davie) would know, or maybe Runnerman or bigtone23 know those details accurately.

You are in deeper than most people...
you see a bass and it is just a kickoff point for you to create something completely different, which ends up giving you some really original basses.
bigtone23 also builds original creations these days.
Our old friend Mech mixed and matched Peavey parts all the time to make whatever he fancied.
kodiakblair has become a 51P connoisseur, he is making bodies out of all kinds of woods and putting together cool basses.
I do think some of you gents should treat us with pictures of all your cool creations.

For a short time you could order DynaBass and Patriots with either wider P-bass or narrow J-bass nut sizes.

I got lucky with my Patriot (wider P-bass) but got landed with the narrower neck DynaBass, don't think I've touched that DynaBass in 10 years

I have a 1.75" Rosewood T45 neck on my T42.5 Foundation body (with the Toasters). Have not seen a rosewood 1.75" Patriot neck, though. May have something to do with keeping it affordable during the earlier 1.75" years, despite later offering the Patriot with 'Custom' options...
Seemingly, they used the same profile for the 1.75" necks, as this T45 neck feels and specs out pretty much the same as my 1.75" maple Patriot, 1.75" maple T20 and 1.75" rosewood Dyna 5 necks! The Dyna 5 does get a touch wider at the heel, but the overall profile is quite similar.

I would trade my 1.5" nut maple/maple '87 Fury neck for a 1.75" nut rosewood/maple neck in a minute.
I still think Peavey made the nicest 1.5" nut necks, but more and more I always want that wide/shallow neck profile.
Anybody who doesn't like their wide Peavey neck, let me know.

When I gave Brian in Glasgow all the different PGs and control cavity covers to make templates from, the thumb rest was included. Think he just made a 3d file from it since I've never saw it or the TR covers in his inventory.

DEPENDS on the store... many did not call into Steve and write up a specific order.

During this era, just about anything was possible with the right regional sales rep and store.

Contrary to what people are saying, this is not "custom" just "preferences"

Palaedium pickups - does anybody know the actual coil configuration?
I always assumed that they were four wire humbuckers, with the red and black being the output and the white and green joined to put them into series....
However, playing about yesterday evening, fitting a new coil tap switch to my Sarzo, I thought “I wonder what the Palaedium would sound like, run in single coil mode?”
So, I temporarily grounded the green/white junction - the result being that the E and A portion of the p’up worked but not the D and G.......
So, presumably they are two separate coils (like the two parts of a Precision p’up) run in series? That must be the case, for it to behave the way it does.....
