This is my BAM 210 that I gave my son. Peeled off the rat fur, which came off surprising easy, filled holes, sanded, and rolled on smooth finish red Durabak bed liner. Looks much better than rat fur.
Neck just got delivered!

Welllllp. I done goofed. The tuners I had on hand were not the right size. I thought they were because they came off a cheaper import bass. I ordered some gotoh resolites though, so I'll get the neck oiled up while I wait for them
Probably for the best though since you'll have good tuners now!

Well the tuners I have on the import are USA hipshots, so it wouldn't have been too bad either way, but I love these Gotohs!
I am very happy to report that the Foundation neck is responding nicely to truss rod adjustments. I've tightened the nut quite a bit but it is still moving without undue resistance and it works like I would expect. As of right now the neck is pretty straight and she plays very nicely.
I've been curious about Foundation colors. I've seen lots of black and white and not a few red, but every once in a while I see others: gold, blue, metallic grey, and of course this sunburst. And that pink whatever-it-is color in the recent posts! Is there a resource anywhere that catalogs all the colors that Foundations came in?
I was working on my slant fury yesterday and realized my truss rod tool was too short to reach the nut. Ended up bending and sanding down a nut driver to get down in there, but decided to remove the nut to clean and lube it, and then added some washers to bring the nut closer to the access hole, and could now use a standard Gibson wrench to adjust it. Looks like I have about half the nut’s length threaded, that should be plenty secure right? Curious about other’s experiences with those early truss rod nuts that are so deep in there.
Here's a couple I picked up here. I was just relooking them over...I wish I knew what year(s) these are from. Your bass seems to be in both...although in the first image it's an extra charge for burst!
Neither show a T20...was the T20 short lived?
The T40 only in black in the first image, I'm guessing it was on its was out...?

Black T-40 with black pg is one of the best looking black basses ever, imo.
You bet it was.
Launched in 1982, gone from the catalogue by January 84.
You guessed right, last few years all T-40s were black.
All my Peavey truss rods have moved their necks properly.
Yesterday I sold a Squier Classic Vibe '70s Precision Bass that I bought used just a couple weeks ago.
The truss rod was working really hard to get the neck to cooperate with how I like to set up my basses, so it had to go.
I tend to like .009 relief at the sixth fret and like to set string height to .070 at the 17th fret.
I've had no problems getting that action on any Peavey basses past or present, same with my two Yamaha basses, or my Squier Classic Vibe '50s Precision.
It's one of the things that I really appreciate about Peavey basses, it seems Peavey used a beefy truss rod that still works after 30-40 years.
I would also guess that the maple used in the 80's was better than some of the new maple being used for some of the Squier basses.
I was surprised how not meaty the Squier '70s P neck was, it felt petit for a Precision, where my Squier '50s P neck is thicker and very stable.
I think my Classic Vibe '50s Precision will be my last Squier, but I'll never hesitate to grab an old Peavey or Yamaha.
My tuners came in and my neck is piled and sanded so I'll have the bass together later tonight!

I expected the neck pocket gap, but I'm wondering if you just left it as is or if you did anything about it?
And the 32" line from the nut seems to be right towards the end of just bridge's adjustment area.
I'm not concerned or anything, just wanted to see if this was your experience too!

It is my experience too, yes, and I left it. In my Sedona Lee conversion, the neck pocket and neck heel fit together literally perfectly…it varies from Peavey to Peavey but the result is pretty good every time in my experience.
