Nope this one's the pau ferro. I do like the maple board on my black one though. Here's a tiny picture from the previous owner.

The signal generated from your bass (passive, yes?) is inducted, meaning it's generated by a magnetc field interrupted by a conductive thingy. The conductive thingy sends this very minute signal out the bass, through your mucky jack (:)) to the amplifier. The amp is where the wattage/volume comes from, not the pickup. The pickup is where the "sound" (quality of same) comes from- after your own hands, that is! So the answer for the thin guage wire is that the signal isn't strong enough to warrant heavy-guage wire until after the input stage of your amp.

Before it hits the amp, your signal is about the intensty of a telephone reciever. Wire can be skinny, it's plenty for the job.

Hey Joe (there's a song in there, somewhere...;) ) I was one of the ne'er do wells that omitted the club info in my sig. Sorry! Somehow the etiquette escaped me-as most etiquette has tended to do all of my life.

Anyway, it's corrected. Sold my G Bass and have one more to let go of...the rest will be buried/burned/fed to the critters with me, lol!

I love your terminology there. I knew the pickups didn't make the volume but that was about it LOL. Though I am wanting to learn it all this time. ^_^ I will pass the info on to my BF.

And by the way, uhm..this is probably a really stupid question but, are there different jack models and stuff? Is eBay as good a place as any (or my local music shop) to get the new jack? Or should I just put it in the shop and have them do it? I'm sure there will be some sautering involved in replacing it.

Oh and yea my foundation is passive. No battery issues there.... (yea I ran across that thread that went like 11+ pages about 'change the battery'). Don't know about the Dyna though...the seller said it was active and passive.... I am considering the rare lime battery for it if it does indeed take a battery..(yea yea, had to get in on that...felt sorry for the OP though to be honest about it).

Just got my Peavey Foundation in the mail today!!! I don't know who else was watching it on Ebay, but I was surprised that no one else bid on it!

Needs a tune up though: shielding, new strings, pots, and tuners because the old ones are bent and the G tuner buzzes. I yet have to hear the Super Ferrites because I sold my amp last year. So I'm gonna go to Guitar Center sometime and try it out. :bassist:

How ya doin? :smug: And yes, Peavey is really cool about knowing what they know. When I first got back into playing I couldn't stop talking about this Peavey bass I had. I remembered what it looked like and it was a Peavey. The best I could kind of recall of the model name was it was a letter and numbers. It had two huge pickups, tons of knobs, toggle switches, the biggest bridge I've ever seen, and it weighed like an ounce shy of a TON ... I called Peavey, they hooked me up with some guy who had been there for awhile. Some department head or something. I gave that same description for the most part and he was like 'Yup, thaaats a T40....' I'm like 'So, you ever going to make them again?' :D I really asked that too LOL He said 'No' :bawl:

I downloaded the tabs for Stone in Love...but I've never heard the song so .... Journey? Thats why I've never heard the song :D But I will try to get a copy of it.

The G tuner on my Foundation is bent too and rattled insanely. Right where the handle' fits into the groove, the groove had been flayed out... two Curel Bandaids stopped that rattle... :cool:

I am not that knowledgeable on pickups (other then humbuckers rock LOL) but I've had my Foundation hooked up and the Super Ferrites sound pretty darn good to me.

Congrats on the Peavey. :p

Try "Deezer.com"... it's a French mp3 site, where you can listen for free. You can set yourself up a playlist and learn stuff, or lust bookmark it and use it for background music while you do your internet thing. They got every-ting, eh.

'84 Foundation in natural swamp ash, SN 01714759.

The truss rod was frozen, but I managed to unstick it and reinforce the compressed wood near the collar with some washers - now the neck is arrow-straight and it plays like buttah! Body is perfectly balanced, I might add.
