U.S. Peavey Club

Well, I had to open a missing item case on ebay to get the bass shipped. But, after paying on June 10th, it finally got here yesterday. Scary packaging too, but it made it.

It really is mint. It's so mint I thought something horrible must be wrong with it. But, I can't find anything wrong. I restrung it with chromes, adjusted the truss rod and it is sweet. It doesn't play quite as easy as my Cirrus, but I'm already loving it! :bassist:

Loving it...except for the red. I have always hated fire engine red. Does anybody know of any resources/links for refinishing? Right now I'm thinking of just getting a new pickguard, cause the only thing worse than red, is red and white.

Well let me add my nice US Peavey Cirrus to the fun in here =D

You ever done any refinishing work?

Lots of info in the Luthier section on TB, see also ReRanch forum, Luthier Tips du Jour on Youtube and the Finely Finished section in the Telecaster.com forum.

Can follow my noobish stumbling through the process in the Luthier section here http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f57/slow-refinish-89-peavey-fury-630878/

Here's a the finished product. It was black.

Ahh, thanks for the links. I was looking for your fury...got confused between tabdogs refinishing and yours and didn't look back far enough. And, no I haven't done any. I think I might get a crappier bass to start with. This one is in great condition.

Tabog does it better, but I have fun with it just the same.

I have one (it was a red Peavey Fury) out in the garage, stripped and waiting for me to apply a finish, but an old motorcycle has diverted my attention and funds.

Thanks. I really like the bass and play if a lot.

The bike should be a lot of fun, but it's an exercise in frustration right now. Spent most of the afternoon wrenching on it and it runs worse than when I started.

I blew up my 17 year old compressor before I could apply the finish on the Fury. Have a loaner waiting on me to pick it up, but life keeps getting in the way. Keep changing my mind on the finish, but I'm thinking blackburst for this one.

So I have a Fury 6. I think it's around 1997/98 and I've been looking for the specs on it because I wanna change all of the electronics. I wanna put some Ken smith pick ups on it and an Aguilar pre amp but I don't know if any of this will fit. Could someone point me in the right direction? And if these won't work could you suggest an alternative. Also let me know where I can find those specs for the fury. I checked the peavey site and came up with nuthin. Thanks in advance for anyones help.

The pickups are fairly large so most other pickups would fit. The problem will be hiding the extra space around them. Many replacement preamps have separate pots and should be able to fit.
