U.S. Peavey Club

here's my latest aquisition

That looks an awful lot like my 1994 Fury, except mine just had the single P split-coil pickup with vol and tone. I'm thinking they released Fury's with the P/J config at around the same time?

Nice bass, btw. :)

Here's mine:

I LOVE the hell out of it. I grew up playing a P-bass Special so I'm good and used to the P/J config and it's great but I always favor that P pickup anyway so I don't miss the bridge J so much. Still and all, it's nice to have it.

Hopefully caught up on the numbers after yesterday's thunderstorm knocked out the power. If I missed anyone, please let me know.

Wow, I cant believe I don't have a number.
My fault entirely to be sure, but with the number of USA made Peaveys I own and have owned in the past I assumed I had already petitioned for a number.
The most recent Peavey family portrait.

I recently traded the 93' Foundation 5 (for a '94 Ibanez SR1200) but replaced it a few weeks later with a '95 Foundation four string in black with maple fretboard, so it virtually looks identical.

Yeah I saw that, good deal. I think the paint is a factory finish.

Question for Peavey fans:

I've been using a gig bag to store my '94 US Fury but this is not my favorite storage method. What hardshell case do you like best for this model? Would most generic P-bass cases work or are the measurements off by enough to affect the fit?

For inexpensive storage, Musiciansfriend has a generic HSC like the one that I received with a TB classified's US Peavey.

Hey guys, I was wondering about the patriot. I was curious to see if anybody has put another of one the pups closer to the neck. Thanks.

It can be done but you'd be better off getting a Foundation or Dynabass. On the basses with two single coil Super Ferrites, the pickups are magnetically out of phase and are wired electrically out of phase to form a humbucker when both are on. In order to add one to your Patriot you will have to find a pickup that is magnetically out of phase to the one you have.

A compass can be used to determine if pickups are the same or opposite magnetic polarity. The compass will point South to the top of a North PU and North to the top of a South PU.

So you're saying I could do this, but I would have to make sure the pickups have opposite polarity? And I realize the foundation already had the 2 super ferrites, but I'm looking for the middle and neck positions, not bridge and middle. But, that being said, could I buy the electronics out of an foundation and pop it into the patriot?

Thanks

You "could" if you liked doing expensive tests.. a Patriot, T20 and Foundation have different pickups.

I've owned 3 pickup basses.. wasn't as useful as I thought it would be... a preamp made a mor noticeable difference.

I meant as in, rip the patriot electronics and add the foundation electronics. So only 2 pups, but in the middle and neck positions like how I'd like.

I'm set on the patriot as far as body style and what not goes plus the $120 range is what I'm aiming for (just for the bass, not the upgrades included), but I want to add another super ferrite where the neck pup in a Rickenbacker (obviously I'm not going to achieve the tone) to add more bass and color to the tone.

As for 3 pups not making a difference, have you checked you that Godin shifter!?:bassist:
Thanks
