That is a good question for Tim. I have seen some 80's Foundations that have tuners with stamped keys and 4 mounting screws like on most Fenders. I don't have any idea of the brand and model that was used. The picture looks like a Grover Titan, but it blurry enough that it could be something else.

Speaking of Grover Titans. The current production Grover Titans have 2 mounting screws that replace the pins on the older model.

Haha sorry my only camera on me was the phone. I can take some better shots should anyone wish. The thing is pretty battlescarred but I like the feel, design, and sound of it more than enough to justify a restore on it. And yes the tuners are the titans it would seem as they have screw in ferrels and no screws but only anchors (never seen these til now but gotta say, much prefer the design aspect of these to that of anything else I've seen) and those ones that just popped up so cheap here on the fs forums! Awesome! Thanks so much to such a helpful community :D

I'm unsure of its age. I only guessed '84 because it belonged to my local school district and had been in storage since the late 80s and our director pointed it at '84. He's a nice old guy though so ya never know if time has eluded him haha either way, here's some pics. Its fairly dinged and needs a bit of work. Especially for whomever pencil scratched the word "LEAK" across the first four frets haha I like this thing a lot though and can't wait til she's fixed up n ready to go :)

Those are the same style tuners as my 89 Fury. You should ask the Peavey guru Tim here on TB. His screen name is MNAirhead. I remember him a while back saying in a post that he probably has tuners laying around. Your also looking at one saddle and screw for that bridge it looks like. He might be able to help you out there as well. Good luck with it.

Also look at the serial number on back of the headstock. That number will tell you the year. I think any thing with 044 as the first numbers starts the 90's era basses. Wikipedia has a complete listing of the year to serial number.

Post the serial # from the back of the headstock, that will help to date the bass.

Concur that is a Titan machine. Good tuners, but not as good as the ones on earlier Foundations (Schaller spec'd?).

I'm interested in the swirly finish on the top. I know Peavey did some oddball finishes around that time....

Sorry dude, I needed it pretty bad. :D It's a fairly rare item, not as rare as the early tuners, but still hard to find. I was lucky to snag that uber clean example.

mnairhead has one available, but it was a bit out of my price range for the bass I'm restoring.

GrAph rex blank is what you want --- the go to an industrial supplier for some high end files

I have successfully built them up with jbweld and filed to height

Note--- to get low action most guys male the mistake of filing the nut too low
