I'm surprised I wasn't eligible for this club until today!
Growing up in Mississippi, I always saw Peavey basses everywhere I turned so always tried to avoid it - it was considered "uncool" (even though I had a bunch of Peavy amps and still have a MegaBass head I love).
I walked into Guitar Center today intending to grab an extra strap and walk out and ended up finding a 1988-ish Peavey Foundation for $150. I played it for a few minutes without even plugging it in and decided it pushed the right buttons to have as an extra knock-around bass in my office to use with my little practice amp when I just want to noodle around.
I got home and plugged it into my little Roland practice amp and was absolutely blown away by the way this thing sounds. Sure, it has a few little dents, some paint swirls, and a bit of neck dive, but the way it sounds, I feel like I stole it.
My serial number is right at the end of the 1988 range - can anyone tell me if the correct knobs for this bass are Gibson-style "speed knobs" with a "toothed" rubber insert?
