Maybe this is true, but I don't think this knucklehead's price is indicative of that. I've been watching Millennium's on Ebay for the past month or so, and I've seen these two on there the whole time:

The MM/J is BIN for $699 and the J/J is BIN for $599. They haven't sold and there doesn't seem to be much interest. I contacted the guy and suggested that he lower his price, given what these basses usually sell for - he said no, because they're new old stock.

And there they sit...

Have you seen them selling for more, though? It's one thing to look at what someone wants for it, but what are they selling for?

Genius! I'd be interested myself if it weren't dinged and scratched. I have a Millennium Plus 4 J/J in excellent shape but I regret not saving, waiting, and getting the Plus 5. I miss the B-string.

I just have to laugh about these sellers. When I'm selling a bass I do some research to find out what basses like mine are selling for, and then I try to price mine just a little under the others.

There's a local music shop where I live that had an Ibanez BTB450 hanging on one of the guitar hooks. He was trying to sell it for $650 when you could buy one on Musician's Friend or Music123 for $550. It hung there for more than a year before I saw the price go down to $500 - just about the time that Ibanez came out with their new models and Musician's Friend was blowing the BTB450's out for $300!

I just don't understand some people! :rollno:

You got it! Unfortunately for the local guy I mentioned, I don't think he ever sold it locally. All his basses are over priced and just sit there. I think he makes his living off selling Johnson jazz and precision copies to unwary newbies. It's really too bad - he's got a nice Fender Jaguar bass in the shop, but he's got it priced $100 more than any online dealer.

Every time I've bought a new bass I've tried it out in the store (GC or local shops) and then bought it for less online. I'm afraid we might soon see the decline of the "local music shop".

I really wish people would research how much these basses sell for before they list them on Ebay. It's just not fair to have me drooling over basses that are priced way to high. I really want a Cirrus tigereye 5 but people keep listing them for $1600+. I recently got one for $900 but it ended up having a broken truss rod so I had to send it back.

I hope these basses keep flying under the radar for a bit cause I love buying them cheap.

I'm with you! I just need prices to hold out until I can get my Millennium Plus 5, and then the sky's the limit!

Joe, I just PM'd you...I recommend Parks tung oil...I wouldn't use Formby's...overpriced and I'm not certain that it is pure tung oil. And yes, though somewhat of a pain to use, tung oil offers some unique properties that make it a boon for instruments.

You are absolutely correct. I bought my MM/J as new old stock right from the store for $500 four years ago. That is the price at which these basses sell. Good thing for us; not so good for the sellers.

**long post..you have been warned :p**

Hi guys *waves* I haven't been on the past couple weeks. I got my Foundation5 in Monday...WOWZER!!! My first 5 string...I took to it in a flash and was tickled about that. ^_^ I posted a thread talking about it but it rolled off the page. No biggie.

I have been reading pages here and catching up. Yes, I have seen a huge jump in T40 prices :crying: which is only going to make it even harder for me to get one now :bawl: but I will suck it up and deal with it when Im ready to grab one. One day I say I don't want to replace mine since I'm so in love with my Dyna (and Foundations) and the next day I want to get another T40. LOL I give up.. I won't be happy till I replace my T40 so that is that.

Anyway, my Foundation5 is in overall sweet condition. The strings are new on it, the clear plastic covering is still on the truss rod cover. I have found only one small ding on the body and one small spot of buckle rash on the back. The maple on the neck is a darker shade and looks really cool. All the electronics on it work great and the factory HSC is in really good shape. It could use a wipe down but thats it. The only thing that has me puzzled about my fiver is the high gloss is dull and it looks like someone rubbed the body down with something to try and dull it on purpose. This is probably a stupid question but could like turtle wax rubbing compound bring that finish back glossy???

So the 'Twins' are now together. My Foundation 4 is a '93. The fiver has a body just a tad thinner and I think the shorter horn seems a bit different but very slightly. The fiver's body edges are also more rounded then the 4. I would gather the 5 is slightly newer? But it takes a few minutes really comparing them to see these things so for sake of argument they are 'Twins' even down to the color.

Finally taking the plunge into a 5 string was great. I'm loving it very much. The neck on my fiver is just 'funkygood' in feel and now I don't find myself going 'I need to go lower but I'm out of strings' when I'm working on some original piece.:bassist:

But as I look at my '89 Dyna bass I think about how cool it would be to have a five string version of that....yup..more GAS...and yup, got 2 different Dyna5s Im eyeballing right now. . . and from what I gather I best grab one now while they are still moderately affordable to the average person...

Speaking of my Dyna, I have to say that a Peavey Dyna bass is the closest thing to my dream bass I ever thought Id find. My black Dyna is almost everything I ever wanted in a bass. The size, the weight, the balance, that neck :hyper: OMG that neck is to die for!!! and thats saying something considering the tilt on it right now is set too much. :p The sound, the feel .. just everything about it!!!!!!!!!! The only thing it is not is a 24 fret neck but you know, I don't care. I love that thing and every single thing about it so much, it never comes to mind (the neck scale). My Foundation Twins are keepers and my Dyna (soon to be other Dyna (5)) are even more keepers. Once I get my Dyna5 I think I'm done. :p Yea how many times have we all said that, eh? :D

When I had my T40 years ago and didn't know kaka on how to set it up, it was a love/hate relationship I had with that thing. Now that I know just barely more (LOL) its love all the way. When I was getting my groove back I was looking at everything and anything and gasing so bad for so much...but..naaa... when my BF got me that Foundation4 for xmas and I played it for the fist time I realized that I'm a Peavey bass person and I think thats it for me. :smug:

What I really need though are factory HSCs for the Foundation4 and the Dyna4 (the 2 different Dyna 5s Im looking at both have their factory HSCs so thats cool). Can anyone help me out here? Are there model numbers or does anyone know if theres a HSC that can properly house different models of Peaveys??? I'm totally clueless on what I'm looking for here.

By the way, to any of you who are looking for some Peavey bases; the man I got my Foundation5 from has another Foundation4 with factory HSC as well as a US made Peavey Millennium five string I believe. I don't know their colors though. Prices I'm not sure. He quoted me one different prices for them as I would be a repeat customer so I really can't say what they are. If anyone is interested I can hook you up.

EDIT: I was mistaken, the US made Millennium is a 4 string, not a five. I am very sorry for any confusion here!!!

Stars....American made Peaveys are awesome and they're just going to go up in value because they smoke anything Fender has put out in my recent memory.

There are forums dedicated to the T-40 and T-60. I thought it necessary to create a forum open to ALL Peavey USA made basses. The Foundation, Fury, Dyna, other T series, Millenium, Cirrus....etc deserve their proper due respect.

I don't want to step on anyones toes here, I'm a FULL supporter of TalkBass. I'd love it if you guys would check out my little forum. It's in it's infancy and the format will probably be changed if people want it.

Come check it out...and please contribute to the threads already posted, or start new ones...as I said, it's a work in progress.

I have run across forums just for the T40. I thought that was so cool. And I remember my T40 stood out to me more then my '64 Gibson EB-0 when I played the first time around. Of the basses I had the first time, replacing that T40 was the only one I wanted to get back when I got back into it.

I actually had a Millennium5 on layaway at my local shop when I was first getting back into it but dropped it. Kind of wish I hadn't now. But from what I've learned of other Peavey models since then I'm pretty sure it was a BXP (that is non US, right?) and not an american made one so perhaps that was best? I have thought of looking for a US made Millennium but the ONLY one Ive ever run across was the one that the guy I got my Foundation5 from recently offered me. I have to pass I think though, I'm out to get an older Dyna5 ^_^ Peavey Dyna-Basses are just...the best as far as I'm concerned.

Peavey Grind has also been suggested to me and I am rather intrigued by them. But I am very happy with the 3 Peaveys I have now and soon to be the 4th one. ^_^ Then I will put my money toward that elusive T40 and be done. Well thats the plan at any rate.

And yea, I will check out your forum. ^_^
