When I first got back into it, I was like a kid in a candy store at all the new basses out and discovering ones I never knew were around back when I played the first time. I was gasing so bad for everything. My relationship with my T40 as I have said before was a love/hate type thing, but once my BF enabled me to put that '93 Foundation in my hands, I realized I had come home. I realized then just what a good impression that unset monster necked T40 had really made on me. Oh yea he also sprung for the Foundation fiver just up out of the blue as well. Hes so sweet ^_^ I was on my own with the dyna... Anyway, when I was initially going to back out of the Foundation5 and started a thread for fiver recommendations, someone suggested a Dingwall (that for some reason I always catch myself trying to say/type Dingbat...)...I have never really paid attention to 'higher end' basses. I can't afford more then about $600 for a bass new or used so whats the point you know? I am also nothing close to a gear whore or headstock whore, however you wanna put it. But I have to admit, for all my babbling about wanting this or that, I always end up back thinking about a Dingwall. I think once I am done getting a Dyna 5 and FINALLY replacing my T40... I really think that is the one and only 'highend' axe I will actively try to get; a Dingwall. Sure, some might suggest take the money I'm putting out for these Peaveys and put it toward a Dingwall...well, I agree with that thought, but I also agree with the comment 'get em now while you can, the party is over.' I have seen it with my own eyes in just the past two months. I'm getting them while I can still moderately afford them. I think there will be a Dingwall around a bit easier then the 2 peaveys I want to add to my 'brood'. ;) next year.

I was setting up at an outside gig, at a private beach in Newport, RI. It was on a stand, and I was running power cables for PA, setting up my pieced-together rig, a recording jig, mics and cables, blah blah. There were kids and other wandering people passing close by, it was a tight space I was in and I was just sort of quietly hectic. I turned, bumped into it and didn't even register it until I heard a 'thwack'! and saw it laying there on the ground. I reproached myself plenty. The only damage was to one of the tuners on the headstock. It was almost as if someone and caught it and prevented real damage! Funny. Also no one else in the band saw it, which was really kind of convenient!

I'm a dad, and have seen my kid looking up at me from having just slipped and whacked her noggin on a tile floor. Anything less than that and really, I'm allright. ;)

Ouch. Glad you bass is ok, glad kids have hard heads too :p

You know, you can get gig bags for $20, made by that German company called "Stagg". They produce a lot of cheap, useable gear, and their gig bag will keep your bass totally protected in a short fall like you described. Their mic stands are good too, and cheap- a good notch better than the "On-Stage" brand (junk).

Much appreciated advice there. I will check into that! In the meantime I've just got to remember to turn on the light next time I get out of bed half asleep and go to check on my birds....yea birds and basses don't go together very well. :D

And man my arm!! It looks pretty fierce. The bruise is also in the vague shape of one of the body horns from the Dyna O_o....I wasn't kidding when I said I slammed into the Dyna @_@ I sat and totally inspected the 3 that collided (yea the Foundation4 was 'smart' it went the other way in the heavy metal mishap there....) Outside of the couple very minor machine head dings on the back of the headstock to the Dyna from the Fiver, the fiver got a very slight ding in the body from one of the screw heads on the neck plate from the Dyna... thats it for all the 'damage'...the Bat made it without so much as one mark somehow... I was lucky there all around with that clutz incident. ^_^

I never checked the Les Paul. Theres no point, that thing was beat to hell when I got and got beat to hell more when I wrecked it in the early 90s. Talk about 'mojo'.... but it screams as awesome as it looks beat up, if that makes any sense so its all good. And every guitarist that I know thats ever laid eyes on the thing have just gone nuts for it actually LIKING the yellowed binding and dents, scraps, bashes...you name it....least the finish is still mirror perfect somehow and the neck is perrrrfect. :cool:

Sorry about the ding on your arm! You will heal though- your bass is stuck with it! I just think of this kind of thing as "stripes earned".

You should see what I did to my hand two weeks ago at work... more "stripes earned"! Fortunately I have a line I don't manage to cross, so I still have hands! :hyper:

Yea its not tender at all today, just the carpet burn under it I got with it thats annoying... :hiding: The legs already fine (I tend to heal fast). And its not the first time Ive gotten earned stripes with an axe, won't be the last. Sometime I should recount how I fractured my nose on my Memphis P bass copy once...:ninja:

LOL yup!! I think my lespaul is the definition of 'vintage'. One of the things that happened to it when *I* wrecked in it the 90s was it somehow got dropped on its tail hard enough that it shoved the strap button INTO the body almost flush :eek:..but the luthier that repaired it last year got it out and fixed the body, put the same button back and unless you look closely you can't tell it ever happened. That man is so good and so cheap to boot :hyper:

That will make someone very happy. Dynas are so awesome!!

Speaking of Dynas...it would appear that things are not as ok as I thought after my inadvertent Q-back tackle into my axes the other night. The passive setting is no longer working on my Dyna and the pup closest to the neck is real loose now. When you flip it to passive you get a bit of static and nothing. But its fine on Active (and yes the battery is fine in it)....

Would anyone know off hand if I'm looking at something that just got knocked loose or did I really screw up $$$ my Dyna? :(

You need a T-40 instead of a Dyna if you are going to rough house. :D I'm sure you just knocked something inside loose. My dogs knocked my T-40 right off the wall hanger and it survived without any problems. I'm lucky neither of my dogs got killed!!

LOL!!! I got a great laugh out of that Knifemaker!!! Maybe if everything works out, I might have a T40 sometime in the nearish future. Least I hope so...then lord help me if I collide into that thing in the middle of the night. :p

alright guys I'm a newbie here. how do I join? I started 9 years ago on a '91 Fury 4(stolen 4 years ago):bawl:, with a TNT100 BW, and for the last 6 years I've been on my walnut Cirrus 5, and last year got the combo115. only thing i have not peavey is my GK 210 cab. oh and a newly acquired B.C. Rich mystery I'm converting to a fretless. anyways count me in, where do i sign up

Well to sign up you need to post pics of the Peavey basses you have and ask for your number (PM the OP). The OP should PM you your number. ^_^

And this reminds me, I have pics of my Dyna 4 string and my Foundation 5 string I need to get up here soon...Im sure some think I don't have them as it is LOL but I do...I got the bruise on my right arm from the Dyna to show I do.... :p

And I have no idea how the B string would be on a Dyna. As narrow as the neck is on the Dyna 4s I would think it would be sweet. But I'm very much a newb with 5vers so I really don't know what I can say. The B string on my Foundation is..ok...The action is set almost too high for my taste though (thats saying something) and the B string does seem 'loose' still. I do know the strings this one came with, new or not, are junk. LOL Must get new strings ASAP for this thing....

I /was/ set on getting a Dyna 5 to go with my 4 but I ... got a bit sidetracked on something else....:ninja: Pics will post in the next few weeks on that hopefully. :cool:

Just found this again, browsing. Funny... we have an armpit in RI- it's called "Johnston"... :D I live just to one side of it.
