Thank you Mech, they are in excellent condition. I always go back and fourth in my mind about selling them to fund another bass I'd like to have,... Lol!
Thank you,I like the green one as well.When I got the bass there were 3 stickers on it and the neck needed a fair amount of tweaking.Thanks to GooGone the stickers came off clean and easy,and the neck is settled and playing as well as it looks!

Bought this '89 Fury on epay today. Decent price and and looks to be in good shape. I'd been eyeballing it for a few days and was kind of surprised it hadn't sold. I've looked around the interwebs for pics of a red, rosewood with black peg head and didn't find any. Anybody else here seen one like this? My curiosity is up.

Nice Ax. The pots can be cleaned with a good spray cleaner like Deoxit that will normally take care of the scratch. It may take more than one application. You may want to do this and give the stock pre a run before deciding. IMHO, it's not a dog by any stretch. As far as changing the pre goes, the input impedance of the OBP-1 is 1 meg and should match well with the active PUs on the Axcelerator. I've not tried this so I have no first hand experience with this combination.
If you do decide to change the pre be aware that the input impedance of the pre needs to be about 1 meg to prevent pickup loading.

Not sure if I've seen that combo on a Fury, but it doesn't surprise me. Peavey did a lot of Patriot basses that way, around the same time. Red, white, and black ones with Titan tuners and all black hardware. These Patriots also had a jazz neck, I think they were called a Patriot Deluxe or Patriot Special or something along those lines.
I can't tell for sure by that pic, but if the bridge on that Fury is black I'd be certain the bass is all original. No clue if the Fury version had a special designation, like the Patriot did.

This is my Generation guitar that's done the same but in black and gold. The sides and back are black. I've seen a pic of a Dyna Unity in this color. The guy wouldn't sell even though I made a handsome offer.
So, Peavey announced they are re-starting production on the Cirrus, at NAMM. Interview from NAMM here:

The guy from Peavey says they will be making Cirrus 4 and 5 strings in 4 different wood choices. And he says the pricing will be $999 to $1599 for the Tiger Eye 5 string.
He said he went over to the old factory and found the original blueprints and then they used those to make 3D models in order to use modern manufacturing techniques. There is no mention of where the Cirrus will be made.
The video clearly shows that the mid knob on the preamp is not stacked.
All this seems to point (in my mind) to them starting to use CNC production to make the basses somewhere in Asia, and using the lower-end, non-Millennium preamp. It also seems to point to not having any kind of Custom Shop option. Which would explain why they are going to be less expensive than they used to be.
And that all makes me expect that they will be good. But, not AS good as the ones being turned out by master craftsmen from Mississippi were. We'll see.

Received the red, black and rosewood '89 Fury yesterday. I knew the PUs had dropped and pulled them to re-glue them to the shells. I was expecting the Jim DeCola original Peavey but this is what I found. No markings and plain jane shells. Shielded, four wire cable with ground that looks like early Bartolini I remember seeing back in the day. You can see the verdigris on the copper shield on the left PU so they may be period.
Any ideas????
EDIT: Just found out that the PU is stock for the time period. Learn something new every day. I've only seen the Fender type wiring scheme on later models.
Edit 2: Just found out this pickup was made at Peavey, designed by Jim DeCola (Vandenburg, Wolfgang, etc, after Mike Powers came on as the bass guru) who is currently at the Gibson Custom Shop. The 90s version was outsourced to Korea. Supposed to be an exact copy but with Fender type wiring. I know my early 90s Fury sounds good.
Any ideas????

Just picked this T20,up yesterday. Not bad condition,not dinged or banged around. Someone sprayed and primered the pick guard black. Found a spray can of varnish,and paint stripping solution,and got it looking pretty good. Pots are little scratchy,and hum in the tone control. Will spray some detoxit in there later. Here is one picture,before removing the black paint. I actually went with a friend of mine,to help decide,on getting a bass for him to learn. His Mother wanted me to help them pick one out for his High School graduation present 1983. He gave up on learning,and sold it. I found out,just a couple weeks ago,who he sold it to. I asked if he still had,and he said he did. So here it is,33 years later, now I have that same T20. Never realized at the time,how great the T20 sounds! Sorry for being so lengthy,it brought back some sentimental feelings,and memories.

Here's a pic of the 1989 Red Fury and 1989 Dyna Unity I received this week. The Dyna Unity is what I think was called Midnight Blue and has the tiny silver metal flake. It was described as black so that was a bonus. Both are set up BEAD. Even with the Grover Titan type tuners neither are neck heavy. I had almost forgotten how smooth those machine heads act. The Dyna Unity came with a set of Bassline actives with two little dip switches, no preamp and sounded really good as it was. I've found what the switches do and I understand they were probably made in the early '90s. I used the last DynaBass preamp I had and a set of DeMarzio's like came in it to put it back the way it shipped. Used both of them last night and I'm glad to have them join the herd. Now all I need is a G-V at the right price and the world will be right

I like that Dyna/Unity. I'm kicking myself here as last year one was for sale local but I dithered too long and it dropped of the face of the earth.
With all the Peavey folk in the UK I know I would have heard if one of them had got it.

I've let several slip by too, including an excellent natural maple. Even though this one needed some stuff and has playing marks it was well cared for and had a good set up. Well worth the price.
I guess just introducing myself to the thread. Coming back to playing after .....heck... 30 years. Anyway was a T40 fan back in the day so I picked up sort of where I left off and got a 93 Foundation. Then tripped across an import Fury II so cheap I couldn't stop myself.
The Foundation needed setup and a new set of Ernie Ball flats and it plays great. I think the Fury will get a set of DR's I wanted to try out, but remarkably the setup on the Fury was dailed right in and the electrics are good.
I can tell already the family is going to grow. @mech, happy I didn't bid against you on your Fury I was thinking about that one.
Now how exactly does one join this band of low life's. (Pun, just a pun)

Congrats on the Foundation. I have 1st and 2nd generations. Great basses. Had a 2nd Gen Foundation 5 for a while. Loved the sound but just couldn't get into the feel of the neck.
Thank you for not bidding! Took about half a day to clean up, get everything working as it should and set up for BEAD but that thing turned out great. The neck is most excellent and has the great Peavey fret work. It's one of the heavier Furys I've had my hands on which is why it's not neck heavy with the Grover Titan type tuners. The 90s model I have is light and is a taste neck heavy even with the lighter Fender type tuners. The larger peg head doesn't help.
