Shame you got messed around with the B90 @Muddyroots. I get a lot of fun with mine,really must open it up sometime and see what EQ was stuck in it
4 knobs on it and one of them a dual so sure not standard.

Opened the back of the B90 to find some Seymour Duncan preamp inside,only markings are R02 & 412125 hidden below the velcro.
Side input was done away with so the 9v could nestle in there. No idea about the pickups,appear to have a different plastic covering the bobbin.
Next time I restring I'll pop one out and check the back.

Bought a 1992 Fury yesterday.
Got the bass and a little Ibanez BT10 practice amp for $40....going to sell the amp.
Pickguard is warped, so I will get a replacement from Peavey.
Knobs are black and obviously not original but the rest is factory stock.
Body paint has a chip here and there but they are small.
The white has turned into a nice creme color that is less white than in this pic.
Fretboard & frets are in great shape, neck is not dinged up front or back.
Gotta get a 5/16" tool to adjust the neck just a bit, it has a little more relief than I would like.
I am getting more hum than I would expect for a P pickup though, less when touching the strings like on a jazz bass, P pickups are supposed to be quiet, right?
Gonna try another pickup in there and see if it solves the problem.
No cavity shielding other than the the foil on the back of the pickguard.
Wanted a Fury to go with my Foundation and Foundation S.
Pretty happy!

That fella look very similar to one of my Furys bar mine being used to break up several bar fights
Do Peavey still stock the Fury scratchplates ?Mostly I hear folks going to Pickguardian ?? or is it Pickguard Heaven ??

The nice lady at Peavey says she has one for me!
She asked if I wanted black or white, I decided to stay with black, was not sure that bright white would look right.

@kodiakblair well at least they didn't rout out the back of it to make more room. I've seen a few B Ninety's on eBay getting parted out maybe one of the sellers as the original electrics.
My line on the $65.00 B Ninety may still be alive we'll see if he shows this time, Black 91' hopefully it works out.

Before you go changing PU's check your connections and do some cavity shielding, that should take care of the problem.
The PU's in these are actually quite good and slightly overwound and hotter than Fender P's.

Glad your B-Ninety could be back on track
I opened up mine last night and along with a Duncan preamp they fitted 2 Duncan Vintage pickups.Not bad additions for a $66 bass. As it's now 4 knobs and a front mount
jack socket (side mount was removed to allow for battery) it won't be going back to stock.
Was thinking with import tax running at 23% on combined cost+shipping this must have hit me more than $66 to get here !!

A P bass shouldn't need shielding to not hum. I'd check the grounds first - especially the ground to the bridge. Reflow the solder joints on the ground wires to the pots. Maybe even replace the wires, as there could be something broken inside the insulation.
Oh, and clean the output jack. Dirt in there could be causing a bad connection. That should actually be step #1, as it's the easiest.
I think shielding a P bass is a Band-Aid to the real problem.

Congrats on your score! Unreal price. You can flatten the pickguard by putting it between two pieces of glass in the sun for a few days. Any of the pickguard screws that are run in at an angle or that are off center of the holes need to be fixed. This is generally what causes pickguards to warp. Put toothpicks wet with Elmers glue in the existing holes in the body, let it dry 24 hours and make a pilot hole that is vertical and centered with a small, very sharp awl. If you use any existing, angled holes or off center holes the pickguard will warp again.

I got the bass for so cheap because the young lady had the bass and amp on Craigslist for $100, but after we set a time for me to come see it, she plugged it in and the bass made no sound.
She texted me and told me the bass or the amp were not working, she apologized for not checking it before, but if I wanted to come take the stuff off her hands she would just give it to me.
So I went there and gave her $40 and took them and figured I could surely make it work.
The magnets on the bottom of the pickups were not glued on anymore, I glued them on and of course the bass now makes sound.
Why are they noisy, if they are wound as a humbucking pair?
I am going to shield the cavity on all three of these Peaveys.
I did not think a P-Bass needed shielding but I figured I would do this bass while I was doing the Foundation and Foundation S shielding.
Checked the bridge to the output jack sleeve ground for continuity and it shows continuity.
I did replace the output jack, Peavey had a "switched 1/4" jack" in there and the tip and switch were wired and not the ground (sleeve) terminal which I believe is uncorrect.
After the pickup magnets were glued and dry and the pickups were back in, the signal was intermittent until I put the new jack in, now it makes noise reliably but with hum.
The jack was not a Switchcraft like some other Peavey's I've seen, and the pots are not CTS either which maybe Peavey never used.
I am thinking they were maybe using Peerless jacks at the time, I can't tell the brand of pots but they are full sized and maybe are Alpha, I think they say JS on the back of them.
I will go through all the wires and solder points and see if I can locate the issue.
