Are you going to use a string retainer?

No need. You can't tell from those pics, but the headstock is scarf-jointed at about a twelve-degree tiltback. Another of my anti-Fender biases.

Nice Dyna, especially all Vader'ed out in black! The reverse headstock also lets me use ordinary long-scale strings on the 33" scale without putting full windings on the B string post. It's wearing DR Lo-Rider steels right now. They sound good, but I always wind up experimenting with strings...

Is it normal for the.vfl foundation to have a.huge difference in bass response between pickups? Even with the bridge pickup raised much higher than the neck pickup, the bridge soloed has soooo much less low end response. Perhaps the pickups are swapped? My ibanez SR500 was like that and apparently ibanez did that on purpose, to get a more aggressive bridge sound and a deeper neck sound.

My VFL 5-string Foundation is well-balanced between bridge and neck pickups. Not sure what's going on with yours.

Must admit to never giving them much thought but what the heck.

Arrived today as described,which was minus the bridge pickup and control cover. Reckoned the pickups from the Zephyr
would fit and that it did. According to the manual this comes with Cirrus electronics,all I see is a preamp saying Peavey
VFL Preamp .Looks different to the ones in the BXP Millenniums and here's where it gets a bit strange, I can't find a nut
to fit the jack socket !! Wished I'd kept a record of all those jack sockets lying round here as I don't know if they're metric
or imperial

Anyways this Void PXD at the princely sum of $88 joined the clan today.

What you think, did the boy do good ?

After yesterdays' interruption with the Void I thought I better get back on track.

RSB Koa after its 3500 mile trip from fellow TB'er @789string to it's new home in Scotland. It's been 5 years since one
of these was last sighted in the UK,has to be a record even for the UK.

It,s a 1992 Foundation to go with my 84 burst.These are incredible basses as we know.I waited a long time on the right one coming along,luckily I had my 84 to keep me company.

Does anyone have a later generation Forum 4 string that they are not in love with? The big pickup(s) model.
I'm curious about this model and they are uncommon.
Does anyone have notes on the sound they make? It looks like maybe peavey was going for a Music Man thing, kinda like the old Ibanez ATK

Mine are not for sale. I always considered these working/poor man's modulus, but with a wood neck. The g bass had a graphite neck making it much closer to the mod. They are def in the active mm and mod tone camp. SUPER HOT pups in these bad boys! I highly recommend one if you can find it.

I think according to the serial number that it's a 1992? Am I right in that? What's the difference between this and the 80s models? I think with new strings and a professional set up, this will be a nice playing Bass. Can't wait to receive it.

Looks like I got the 4 string cousin of yours! I was looking at that 5 string also. I really wanted the natural finish one that is in mint condition for $299. But I didnt have the funds. This one for $180, I don't think I could go wrong. The paint on this one looks swirly also. I really don't want to refinish it as I like things original. Hopefully it will buff out. If you have any tips and you end up making your look good, let me know! Thanks. -Josh

I agree that is a 1992 Foundation according to the serial#.The location of the neck pick up is 1/2"forward on 80's and early 90's versions.When they went to VFL single coils the neck pick up moved.

Picked up the sibling to my '89 Foundation Custom.The serial #s are 8 digits apart,my original ends in 9094 and the 'new one' ends in 9102.The colors are similar but not exactly the same,one being more of a pearl-effect CAR.

Happy to announce me and the Sarzo finally clicked
Boredom over the holidays had me playing around with a bunch of pedals. Put the Sarzo through a Doctor J
Drive/DI unit and it just sounded right. Hit bypass and it stayed sounding right.

At long last my ears are listening to what my hands were telling me

I've got a question....How different does an 80's Dyna sound from a passive Foundation?
Being active, it will surely not be the same, but I'm curious if an active tone circuit it is big improvement or not a big improvement paired with the Super Ferrite pickups.
Listened to YouTube vids and was not able to learn anything there.
