Here are those pics I promised of my new Millennium Plus 5:

It seems to photograph a brighter blue than it really is, but there you go. I would describe the color as "like the sea". It's a blue burst of sorts, and the color of the edges and the back is a beautiful dark blue-green. The color of the edges and the back are transparent so you can see the grain of the alder in the back. Very nice!

Doug Rood, who owned it before me, couldn't have done a nicer job on the setup! The bridge saddles are pretty much bottomed out but I get no fret buzz - way low action. It also has almost perfect intonation right out of the box. It weighs in at 9.3 lbs.

Yeah, I'm afraid I made that recommendation earlier in this thread...still mean it, too-for what they are trading for-especially the Dyna version with the active/passive option and ebony fretboard-they are an incredible bargain and a pure joy to play.

Mid-sweep! That's the thing I might wish my Dyna-Bass Unity had. Yup. Neat.

EDIT: Sorry, my post is a bit misplaced in the order here... I'm referring to the RJ IV bass- the Randy Jackson model. But that Unity is a sweetie. :cool:

All the Peaveys are really good basses! Sheesh. Hardly a 'dog' in the bunch.

EDIT again: Speaking of Mid-Sweep knobs and such, do any of you tech-minded folk know of an expedient method of installing a Mid-Sweep control into a Dyna-Bass Unity's electronic scheme? I note that the electronics are rather cavity-filling and seem a project to undo. But I wonder if anyone here has had success at installing a 'Q-Filter' type gadget, or the like?

I documented swapping the Cirrus preamp for the Millennium preamp in a G-Bass, but I'll bet you could adapt this to a Dyna/Unity/RJ IV/Ad Nauseum...Just remember these are 18 Volt pre's.

I think you'll be happy. The Forum AX looks like it has the same pickup as your old Forum (except two of them) and probably a similar or the same preamp as my Axcelerator 6 has. Looks like an ABM bridge on there, too. It's a high end piece, but a hell of a pain in the ass to work with.
