Well - I took the new Milly 5 to one of my band's rehearsal last night. WOW. I know I'm in the honeymoon period with this thing - but so far, I'm pretty sure it is overall a better bass - for me - than the Cirrus. And to this point - the Cirrus is the best bass I've owned/played. Sure the Cirrus construction is maybe a little bit better than the Millennium - but as far as string spacing, tone, and how the bass just fits me - the Milly is more comfortable for me. I'm a smaller guy - and the reach on the Cirrus has been giving me a little trouble in the left arm. The geometry on the Milly puts the 1st fret closer to me than the Cirrus - it's much more comfortable. The tone - definitely more aggressive, but super versatile with the Milly preamp.
Might be selling the Cirrus! But - will wait until I through the 'cooling off' stage lol!

Yes. Looks like the redwood top on my 5 is a bit on the plain side. It is still a pretty bass and looks to be in excellent plus condition. I also own a Cirrus 6 with the same woods but the top on the 6 has very prominent flame and the fingerboard is the most highly figured Pau Ferro that I have ever seen. It is a great bass.
Not sure what that one is.
The headstock looks like a Peavey shape, painted by owner as noted.
Fretboard has 20 frets and the heel is rounded.
Peavey international series maybe?
Yep, it's an non-USA bass. Pretty sure it's a Milestone II with the headstock painted. These were made in Korea I believe.

The 2006 Cirrus 5 string I bought off Reverb arrived today. Looks much nicer in person than it did in the photos. That is a welcome surprise.
I would call it excellent condition. The gold hardware is in very nice shape (just needed a wax job) and the bass itself is very close to mint. There was one ding on the back of the neck right at the 4th fret and that was a bother since I could feel it. I used a damp washcloth and steam from an iron to raise the dent. I sanded the finish off the back of the neck and it came out very smooth as I used 400>1000>2000 grit sandpaper. I applied Tru-Oil to the back of the neck and conditioned the fingerboard with lemon oil. I will get it all back together after it dries and then do a set up with new strings.
It is a killer bass that I got for a bargain price.

Ok. Feels a bit odd to say - but the tone, neck, and overall playability of my Millenium is definitely above that of the Cirrus! Two excellent basses by any measure. Both have great setups. The Cirrus is a beautiful instrument for sure, but for me the Millennium is a better player - and the tone is more in my wheelhouse. Very subtle differences in the necks. I have had several gigs with the Cirrus where people complimented the look and tone of my bass (how weird is that???) I did shim the neck on the Milly and was able to get an obscenely low action with the saddles about mid level adjustment- but the Cirrus is nearly as good. I’m going to be selling the Cirrus - or trading for another US Milly 5 ! The hunt begins...

I was going to say "different strokes for ...." and grabbed 1 of each to cement my thoughts. Sure enough I preferred the Cirrus,couldn't put my finger on why as the Millie plus is a very nice bass. Then I looked at the bridge.

I'll throw another into the mix: my Cirrus bolt on has a crazy thin neck, like the Millenium neck. It is much thinner than the Cirrus neck through, at least my redwood one. Also, being a bolt on, I was able to shim the neck, change the geometry just enough to achieve crazy stoopid low action. My GV is still my favorite, but not by much
Dunlop super bright stainless here. I have them on everything. My everything is an insane number of basses. I haven't counted lately, but I bet it's around forty
I'm able to get very low action on my Millys and Cirrusses. 1 Milly I've shimmed. The other I have not, though the previous owner may have. I don't want to risk cracking the pocket finish to find out if I don't have to. While all are spectacular players, I seem to be more comfortable on the Millenniums for an unexplained reason. I thought the G4 necks were too tiny....almost toy like. I like the GV a whole hellova lot more, though I'm not much of a 5 string player. Its my only 5 since selling the VMP5 last month.
I love my GV necks. That's one reason I have five of them. Another is that they don't make them anymore, so when I see one I grab it.

As for the Millennium. String choices I have are Rotosound Nexus.045 to .105, Rotosound RS66 .085 to .175 !!!! or
SIT "rock brights". Also have an old set of La Bella RW's and Sadowsky Blue label,they feel silky smooth but it doesn't say flats on the packet. What's the verdict on the SIT's ?

Guitar Center in New Jersey has an upgraded GV with case for $699, seems like a good deal, no? (I'm not interested, just wanted to give a heads up in case anywhere here is looking.)
