I'll post a clip, hopefully soon, of some noodling/eq'ing I was doing in the background at a rehearsal. It was with my blue bolt 5 Cirrus, and it happened when our singer was being interviewed for our website/FB bio info. I turned down a little...had to be a polite. ;)

That patriot looked sick, gone... The stealth ad had been deleted too.

I jammed out the 87 mahogany foundation last night with daddario 1/2rounds, it just sounds so good.

I had been using the 93 "relic" fury with a 110 80 65 45 set as a drop C backup for system tribute (but it is a drop D-C# guage) because it happened to work and not buzz, but I have decided to put the VFL foundation into that mode with an old set of ghs heavy boomers 115 95 70 50 set. The 2 pickup is a better backup for my Thunderbird since I do tweak the blend during the show, and Shavo=scoop and the modern sound of the VFL will work well.

I plan on covering the chipped up ugly red finish with black and white band stickers, can't afford a refinish project (don't have place to do it myself). Eventually that finish is going bye bye and I am hoping the maple body looks good enough for a natural finish. If not I am thinking some sort of green. I need a green bass, or at least a less offensive red.

Green and blue sparkle tape caught my eye at the dollar store. I bought 2 rolls green and one blue, thinking about a 2 tone thing primarily green.

This stuff is very textured and does "shed" a little glitter, and doesn't stick well enough to go around the edge, so I am thinking a "clear coat" of packing tape might help hold it together and protect the glitter. Not sure where mine is, and I know it is almost gone, so another trip to dollar store needed.

Work in progress, the scraps of tape on the bass are just what I use to fill gaps, the final is going for a blue trim and probably center stripe/racing stripes through the center. I also got some silver aluminum tape, since that stuff can be used for lots of things. It dents super easy so I decided not to use it. But if the packing tape clear coat makes it durable enough, I might make the center stripe silver, maybe van halen stripes :).

Having fun, not spending any money.

I was in the local mom and pop store because guitar center didnt have the thin pancake end shorties I need for my pedalboard, and obly had uber expensive options aside from live wires, which don't fit my.bcb3.

So the local store has hosa 6" cables for $3.50 each. And they seem to be a peavey dealer. They have the MAX series and a valve king on display, and grinds and milestones (the active one that almost looks like a cirrus from the front, as well as the P/J). This is not really a high end bass destination, but it is cool to have a peavey dealer so close. Now I just need to find the time portal to 1988 or thereabouts. (Central banks date money and recall/destroy older paper currency, to thwart time lords, for sure!)

Having seen that reminds me of a guitar playing friend. He also dresses up his instruments. All of them. No Exceptions. Aside from the glitter tape, there would also be rhinestones and butterflys. The dude aint right. That's what I like about him.

I certainly don't do this to the majority of my instruments ,this is the first time I have attempted a "tape" finish.

Darn 99c store!
