U.S. Peavey Club

I hope I’m posting this in the right place... I am in serious search of something very specific..

I am looking for a:

Peavey Millennium USA 5+
Humbucker/Jazz pup config

The color is irrelevant at this point as I have gassed for one of these for almost 10 years and never owned one. I just got my bonus and I’m on the hunt. I seem to have just missed a few that have sold recently.... but tell ya what... I gotta have one and I hope the fine folks in this LONG thread would be willing to help me out!

It seems the USPS still has my Millennium out there in limbo somewhere. The tracking updates contain little real information. The last update reads:
  • Departed USPS Regional Facility
  • Mar-15-2018, 21:40 PM I checked with the folks in my post office and the bass was in Dallas Wednesday. That is about a 5 hour drive from here and still the bass is not here. It should have left Dallas Wednesday night and be out for delivery today but it is not. They are guesstimating that Monday will be the day it is delivered.

  • Don't you just love the waiting?

All Mill 5's had the Humbucker/Jazz config. If color isn't important, then you don't even really need a 5+, just any Mill 5 will do.

Either way, they seem to be getting harder and harder to find. I've seen 2 on the Guitar Center used site so far this year, and both sold before they posted pics, IIRC. Look on eBay, Reverb, and even use SearchTempest to do a nationwide craigslist search. Throw in Sam Ash used and Music Go Round too, even though I've never had much luck on either.

**Not my picture, but my bass. Sorry, bass not for sale :)**

Sometimes I just can't say no :) Saw this last night and thought " OK I don't have a Foundation in burst", don't have a factory fretless Peavey full stop. To avoid an invasion I'll keep quiet about what I paid for it

Zero dinks, minimal wear to fingerboard, heck still has the manual and all 3 speed knobs with the rubber bands. Just home from work so only had 5 mins with it but already I know it'll be getting flats

Veree nice, mine is just like that but I am the original and only owner. I have an ancient set of Kaman 'Kamflon' teflon coated rounds on mine.

My Millennium 5 arrived from Canada yesterday. Much to my amazement, the Ebay seller did not put the bass/case in a box. He simply wrapped it in brown paper and much of that was gone by the time it was delivered. Fortunately it made the trip with no damage.

This is the first time I have received a bass and case that were not shipped in a box. That seems a really foolish thing to do.

The bass is cool by the way. Plays and sounds great but it seems it was just stopping by for a visit because a friend and I are working a nice deal where I get his Cirrus 5 and he gets the Millennium. He prefers the Millennium and I prefer the Cirrus. I do love the preamp in the Millennium. I wondered why folks like them so much because the preamp in the Cirrus is very good but the mid frequency control is very nice, isn't it? Too bad Peavey has not decided to make another run of this preamp. I am certain that they could sell a bunch of them to Cirrus owners. I would buy two.

So if you are enjoying an adult libation tonight, lift your glass toward Canada for the lazy shipper and then toward Texas for the very fortunate Chuck M.

Look i dont mess with Ebay and only sell on forums occasionally but.....i ALWAYS explain to the buyer how i pack & ship....for example i always wrap tubes in bubble wrap several wraps too.

What is the preferred method for wrapping a guitar case or box these days? i may sell a few guitars and considered buying thick foam insulation sheets and cutting to size, then some cardboard on top of that....what say you folks?

Btw, glad the bass arrived fine...ive only bought guitars on Guitar Center used before...Ebay seems a risk glad it worked out!

Bubble wrapped, then peanuts, in boxes has fared pretty well thru UPS for me...I've received basses with and without cases that way, and they all made it thru unscathed...

It looks like Kamflon never made the trip to the UK. A similar string is the Rotosound Nexus, well they're black coated strings and none too sticky. Keep a set on the B-Quad,stock Zodiac DE (Entwistle enhanced Zodiac is way too powerful to have such a bright string) and a few others. Great on an active bass because you can tame the brightness.
