T20 Fretless headed my way. Absolutely the last thing I need. But it’s so darn cool.....

I also have something in the post that I will share with you all on arrival. First a Friday story. My first bass was a US precision from the 80s that served me well during my teenage years but indirectly lead me to my first Peavey bass experience. My first girlfriends father worked in the music business. I was of course curious what this very pleasant gentleman did for a living being interested in music myself. You guessed it he worked for Peavey. We didn't talk much shop as I was more interested in his daughter at the time. However one day we were in the music room and Kenneth came in with a dusty old Peavey case. "Here Mark being a bass player you may appreciate this" "Dad what's that?" "it's an old bass Hartley made for me" his reply. So I spent a good 40 minutes twiddling on the T40 prototype The serial number was 1 if I can remember correctly. A gift from Hartley to his friend Ken. After that I was hooked and pretty much played Peavey since then. It didn't work out with the daughter lovely though she was.... The package on its way is kinda related to that day and has been far to long coming.... A pleasant weekend to all.

I’ve owned a Peavey Patriot since 1985. It was my only bass for most of that time, playing metal, country, blues, and two years studying jazz at university.

I also bought my kid a Peavey Bandit silver stripe amp (MIA).

Back in the day I had no idea really what it was and only started to appreciate it much later. I really can't remember. I guess you would have to get in touch with Ken or maybe his Son. He showed me pictures of him and Hartley playing it back in the day and I remember the serial number and the fact it was a gift. Played some other prototypes also but this was the most memorable. Sorry I can't be more specific faded memory now....

Sweet. If you don't have a T-40 do it! If you do have a T-40, you can always use another!

Yeah, I have 19 basses, and definitely don't need number 20, but I would grabbed that...

Ken's back loaded turned up for auction a few year ago. I heard about it too late

Man so he parted with it.... That has to be the holy grail of T40'S right there. Sad in a way . Hopefully it went to an appreciative new owner

Man it went for a steal. Can't remember the number being 007 but this must have been the bass....

Other Peavey news. Put LB Low Tension flats on the 5 string T40, the B is 118 and clear as a bell.

Was 5 year back, you could buy a Foundation for £50 then.

True but still a good price for a one off made by the man himself .

For all the work Ken did it should've been gold plated, he was a heavy hitter.

So, you got a STEAL!!!! Way to go!

I just paid $500 shipped (w/ case) for the burst with rosewood that was on reverb, with the twisted and ski ramp neck. I’ll be doing the heat “rescue” method to try to save the neck. Wish me luck please.
