I always wanted to try flats on my Millennium but sadly sold it before I could. I always struggled with the zingyness and super hi-fi sound with rounds on it. The last strings I had on it were Cobalt rounds trying to coax some more girth out of the sound but I don't think they ever settled down enough for me. I almost always use Chromes on my other Peavey basses with flats and they sound awesome. That said, none of them are active. I think Chromes would be a possible very good fit on the Milly. Sorry I can't give you more.

Got flats on one of my Cirrus,it's a good combo.

Had to ditch the T40 neck from Saturday's bitsa build. To intonate I'd either have to move the bridge or lose the saddle springs. Swapping for the rosewood with blocks was easier,looks better too

Yeah, it'll be a two bass NBD soon. I grabbed that one cuz the price was right. I had already silver one when they first came out. Never really bonded with it. Just gigged a black one last weekend. I have the one from reverb as well as a Dyna Unity plus(?) coming in this week.

I bought mine for $150 a few years back (shipped)... the pro sound crew I work with every sunday morning can not tell the difference between it and my $$$$ cirrus

1985 Dyna Bass. Came from Tyler, Texas, so it needed some electronics clean up and minor rust removal off the hardware and screws and a good fret polishing. Gave it a set up and it's holding really solid, which I don't expect when an instrument comes here from a more humid clime. The preamp sounds great, as does it in passive mode (I am a mega fan of the Foundation). A comfy 8 pounds 12 ounces. Currently running nickel rounds on it, but thinking it might become my BEAD tuned bass as I really don't need another standard tuned/4 string/active/Jazz derivative (have a 72 Jazz with Barts and East Pre, as well as a 83 G&L El Toro). It would be more useful in BEAD, it could replace my 97 Jazz V I typically take to my 80s cover band gig with the Forum Plus.

Here it is with it's siblings. 84 Foundation with Chromes and pickup series parallel push/pull and 94 Forum Plus with Wilde P46/J45, Elixir Nickel rounds and push/pull to put the P pickup in series or parallel. Lots of tones in these 3 basses and they all have a very similar feel.

Ok seeking opinions - has anyone ever tried flats on their Millennium? I recently picked up a Ibby srh505 for my more ‘acousticish’ gigs - played it at a loud outdoor rock gig just to get a feel for it (it had arrived that day) - and my band mates loved the tone - more than my Millys. That bass sports D’Addario Chromes. First time I’ve played flats, and I’m wondering if flats on a Milly might induce some sort of sonic eargasm.... anybody?

Go Fender 9050 flats....love em on my 89 Fury w Duncan SPB1 vintage P pickup and 85 Foundation......low priced too.

The first generation (late 80s) Dyna Bass 5 stringers had the SFs.

Thanks guys. Never touched a Dyna, picked up a TL-5 (if memory serves) once and wasn't a fan of the neck profile - a bit too chunky. I'll have to look for a Dyna.

dynas have different necks depending on the era.. I always found a tl6 more comfortable than tl5

Hey there! @bigtone23 Would you mind checking to see if there is a ding or chip on the back of the neck around the 7th fret middle of the neck? I'm wondering if thats my old Dyna? A close up of the headstock would be great too! If it is mine there is an odd little scratch on the front of the headstock near the edge. What a story if it is! I bought it new eons ago.

Like has been said, the 1st model Dyna Bass five string is what you are looking for. Topnut is right under 1 3/4" with the same profile as the Dyna and same era Foundation. I recommend light weight tuners. Five of the Titans weigh 1 1/4 lb and make it a taste neck heavy. I used Gotoh GB707s to keep the look of the Titans. Great bass.

Had one of those in exact same colour @mech Previous owner said it had a Duncan Basslines III preamp in it,turned out he'd been duped Preamp said "Bassline III" but also had a MIK sticker on the module When he asked for 1st dibs should I decide on selling,it was a no-brainer. The no-brains being me,certain I got stiffed for the shipping

Quite agree,the TL-6 has a lovely neck.Wish I had a use for it

Early 5 String Dyna was the 1st 5 string bass I ever played. Our drummer’s brother had one and liked watching me rehearse with it, cause he couldn’t play for SH!+ LOL. It was ‘90 or ‘91.
