May be worth it to take it to a luthier. I have removed one by cutting it length-wise with a modified piece of hacksaw blade. It took a good while to do since you are basically scraping a slot through the brass. At least the brass is relatively soft. The teeth cut best on the pull stroke so have them angled toward you and use mild to moderate pressure. Modified with a bench grinder.

Great idea. I was also thinking of just tapping the end of the wrench with a couple sharp raps from a hammer. Thought it might break it loose. Obviously need to be really careful I don't damage anything.

A soldering iron won't work. Too low power. One of those classic Weller soldering guns will, though. More than 200 watts versus 15 or 20 watts with the pencil iron. Just heat the nut so it expands relative to the threaded shaft, breaking any connection between them. Often works.

Ok seeking opinions - has anyone ever tried flats on their Millennium? I recently picked up a Ibby srh505 for my more ‘acousticish’ gigs - played it at a loud outdoor rock gig just to get a feel for it (it had arrived that day) - and my band mates loved the tone - more than my Millys. That bass sports D’Addario Chromes. First time I’ve played flats, and I’m wondering if flats on a Milly might induce some sort of sonic eargasm.... anybody?

Apologies if this has been addressed, but I figured if anyone would be able to help, it would be in this forum of TB.

Has anyone had good luck finding a glue that would adhere to the inside of the Older foundation cases.... I refer to them as the tupperware case. I've bought a couple different glues, but none of them seem to stick. I've got 2 cases that don't look like the one in the picture... yet.

A case made out of a hydrocarbon-based polymer like polyethylene or polypropylene etc. will be the devil to get an ordinary adhesive/glue to stick to. You might have luck with a rubber-based compound like contact cement. Roughening the surface a bit will help to get a mechanical bond since chemical bonds are tough with those materials.

I aslo have a "Chainsaw Case" that came as a "gift with purchase" when I found my Fury.
The lining is gone...
Picked up a gray yoga mat - the plan was to line the contact surfaces (the "well" on the bottom and the string area on the top) attaching it with contact cement.
Has anyone done a full re-line of one of these?

Admittedly that's a stock photo. I've got 6 foundations, and Salmon is the one color I've been looking for. Might pop on blue one soon. I'm just dealing with some logistic issues.

I always wanted to try flats on my Millennium but sadly sold it before I could. I always struggled with the zingyness and super hi-fi sound with rounds on it. The last strings I had on it were Cobalt rounds trying to coax some more girth out of the sound but I don't think they ever settled down enough for me. I almost always use Chromes on my other Peavey basses with flats and they sound awesome. That said, none of them are active. I think Chromes would be a possible very good fit on the Milly. Sorry I can't give you more.
